According to that Sportrac website we applied Jerry's bonus money in 2010 so all he has left is base salaries so we can get rid of him without penalty. And as for Turner he has $2.5mil in bonus money applying against the cap this year and next year, so if we got rid of him the 2013 bonus would be accelerated into this year for a total of $5mil in dead money. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/atlanta-falco...el-turner/ http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/peria-jerry/ EDIT: Now that website could have their information completely wrong and I could be an idiot in regard to how some of cap stuff works, and if that's the case I'll be ducking in the corner while everyone throws stones. But the Falcons still think Jerry has some upside. More importantly, cutting Jerry wouldn’t help the Falcons against the cap. In fact, it would hurt them. Jerry is scheduled to count $1.95 million against the cap. If the Falcons cut Jerry, they’d take a $2.2 million cap hit. ![]()

Wow it cost more to cut him than keep him, looks he is safe this year. What other business is it cheaper to keep an under performing employe than it is to fire them?

RE: Team-by-team cap space, as of March 11
This rumour going around that we only have 6 Mil is starting to piss me off.
Just wish we could get a definitive figure not something from someone somewhere, because the figure is bouncing around from 5.75 odd mil to sitting around 18mil. Can someone with sense to break this down put it out there, because Schultz has just pissed me off with his article. Pretty sure Arthur Blank TD and Mike Smith know the financial situation of his team better than the rag rag writers of AJC. They said it themselves they want to be aggressive in free agency, and if I'm not mistaken, it is not until the start of the season when rosters are set, is it that teams must publish/notify the league of their figures? |

According to NFL.com we've been removed from the chase now. They're little graphic thing next to FA players used to have us up there but we're off it now. I must say, this cloak and dagger game our FO likes to play with their situation is quite amusing. With all the talk of being aggressive in FO by blank and TD, we look like we will be tame for the first time since he got here. Look being the operative word, because by Falcons definition this is anything but aggressive.

Also apparently the main source for our limited cap space story is DOL... Unless he is a savant and his strong point is maths rather than basic English, I have a hard time believing that anything he reports involving numbers is accurate.

RE: Team-by-team cap space, as of March 11
Lol I'm assuming these numbers are updated after the penalties against Washington and Dallas.
If that is in fact the case, The NFL pushed the Cowboys almost 3 million over the cap. so hey, even if 7 Million is the real number, its still 10 more Million than Dallas has. and seriously, how the fuck does Arizona think they can get Manning being already 13 million over the cap? ![]()
