[Editor's note: The following list shows the cap space for each team, as of Sunday, March 11. Transactions occurring after 4:00 p.m. ET on Friday, March 9 are not reflected. For example, the Vikings will have more space as of Monday, due to the termination of the contracts of several players. Also, the Jets will have more cap space, given the extension of Mark Sanchez's contract.]

For right now yes, either tonight or tomorrow I'm going to try and find the cap numbers for all of the guys that might get cut in order to make room.

Here are some of the names that I've seen mentioned as cut possibilities, not that I think they'll all be cut.

Player Name / 2012 Cap Hit / Amount Freed
Ovie Mughelli - $3.83mil, frees $3.00mil
Sam Baker - $4.17mil, frees up $2.57mil
Jonathan Babineaux - $5.69mil, frees $2.50mil
Michael Turner - $7.50mil, frees $2.50mil
Peria Jerry - $0.84mil, frees $0.84mil

I can look up other players if anyone wants me too.

Something isn't right with that. We have a lot more room than $5.8m. Grimes hasn't even signed his tag yet and decoud, biermann, snelling, and the 2 samoans haven't taken $16m.

We had $31m of space before anything started, and got to $32.5m after dunta redid his contract. We should be around $23m before grimes signs and around $13m after. His numbers are wacked.

doesn't FA start this week? i see 5.57 coming into our cap space later this week.....don't think the last three on that list need to worry about being cut. being traded maybe for babs or turner, but i have real doubts that would happen to either of them

Chew on THAT, Petunia!

Yes, free agency starts Tuesday at 4pm.

What 5.57 do you see coming into our cap space?

Like I said in the post, I don't think all of those guys will be cut/traded but those were just names I've seen thrown around.

A couple of things...

We would take a cap hit if we trade Peria and if we cut Turner and designate him as a June 1st cut.. We save 5 mil of cap space
