It worked with them in 2009.

Beef was correct about what? Do you even read before you post?? Beef said that Ryan had been interviewed prior to this Friday. He said nothing about Ryan getting hired. I was told by someone who knows for a fact that Ryan wasn't formally interviewed until Friday. I even stated very early on that Ryan would be the logical choice. Not my choice, necessarily, but logical nonetheless.

RE: Sources: Saints to hire Rob Ryan
Back to the original topic ...

I am going to withhold judgement on Ryan. At this point even if he can only get the Saints to a 19th ranked defense as with the Cowboys it is a major step up. I have no doubt he can ignite a bit of fire, albeit it in a bit more rational manner than Gregg Williams.

We'll have to wait and see. For the Saints defense there is no direction but up.

You keep addressing this alleged conversation you had with Holder as if it is 100% proof and leaves no doubt when in fact that is not the case at all. First of all, your credibility sucks here A LOT more than you think. Anyone can name drop and claim they got word from the horses mouth to back up their argument because there's no way for us to dispute it if it didn't really happen. So using that really doesn't help.

If Payton did previously interview and offer the job to Ryan before fulfilling the Roonie requirement, for instance, then it makes perfect sense they would withold that information from everyone, including their beat writer.

And you can sit here and deny it all you want and claim "fact", but this really isn't that big of a deal unless it turns out they did mess up by offering the job to Ryan before the rules say they could and all the subsequent interviews were just CYA (covering your ass) and bogus.

I will contend until I'm blue in the face, I heard Payton say, "again", directly referencing interviewing Ryan. Maybe it was a mistake. Or maybe it was a Freudian slip, meaning it is true and he accidentilly let it slip. We'll probably never know. But I find it odd coincidence that La Canfora knew Ryan was a done deal a little over a week ago and then backed off his statement, but never really explained how he came to that conclusion. I can easily picture NO asking him to keep quiet until after all the interviews are done, if he wants to keep his access to their locker room that is. And oddly enough again, I believe La Canfora was the first to report today that Ryan was officially given the job.

I love a good conspiracy.

For someone who claims to know all the answers you sure are wrong a lot. For your information, the "Roonie Rule" does not apply to coordinators. It only applies to head coaches and general managers. Although, they are considering expanding it to include coordinators and assistant head coaches in the future.

As for my conversation with Holder, here it is. All of the TP/Nola.com beat writers are very good about answering questions. I hit them up all the time.

@AsylumGuido

@LarryHolder Have the Saints interviewed anyone yet for the DC job? Has Ryan already had an interview or will Friday's be his 1st?

@AsylumGuido Todd Grantham is interviewing today. Rob Ryan is tomorrow.

@LarryHolder Yes, I understand that, but has Ryan had an interview with Payton prior to Friday's?

In addition, if you look back I even said that it may be that Ryan was in New Orleans during SUper Bowl week (I'd be surprised if he wasn't) and may have been asked at that time if he would be interested in the position. That would explain Payton's saying he was coming "again" for the interview. But, you contended that he had already interviewed him before this past Friday. That is where you were wrong.

Quote:Incorrect. I heard a clip from Payton on the radio yesterday and again this morning saying he is interviewing Rob Ryan "AGAIN" along with 3 or 4 others (one of which is Todd Grantham from UGA).

Straight from his own mouth he said he had already interviewed Ryan. As usual, you're talkin out your ignorant ass.

Roddy White was in New Orleans as well. He must have interviewed as well.

That he had to clarify should tell you something."Formal" just means "the one we are acknowledging" where I come from.

Where I am from "formal" means real or actual. Asking an individual if they would be interested in a job would not be a "formal" interview. Spending a number of hours discussing an array of details to determine if there was a fit would be called a "formal" interview. If there had been a previous interview Holder would have gladly shared that fact.

This is true according to Drathdon's way of thinking. Hey, wait, Goodell was in town too. He must have interviewed, as well!

So you're saying that the Saints tell Holder EVERYTHING?

There's absolutely no possible chance they would have not told this to him? None, nada, zero chance?

And you're sayin that there's absolutely no possible reason that they would have had to not let anyone know they already interviewed and offered the job to Ryan beforehand? None, nada, zero?
