Defenses are too fast in the NFL? Can't run that gimmicky shit, can you?

What they mean is that it won't work with Cam Newton.
What they mean is perhaps it might work, but you need to first off have a quarterback who can throw the ball just as well as he can run, and two it won't work for too very long because when your fast little quarterback gets laid out a few times he's going to get injured.

Also, in b4 "well, it works for one year, but then teams get film and stop it the next year, like Scam lol."
GTFO with that weak ass shit. They have 13 weeks of film on the redskins. Plenty of time to figure out how to shut it down. |

It's not going to last forever, they won't rely on it forever but build an offense around it. I like seeing teams develop and adjust and if the redskins and other teams start using this as the chunk of their o, then it will change the way Defenses play. Atlanta did a very good job against that offense in my opinion and we could have done better with the way we attack the run now. Also your QB getting nailed is an issue. There are only so many times someone who isn't a principal ball carrier can get blasted a particular way before they get injured. The trick is having an unselfish QB who will know when to stay alive by going down rather than trying to make a play that gets him injured. I think Griffin is that kind of guy, getting that lick from Sean learned him something valuable. I also believe that you need a mobile O line with Stamina.
Somewhere in a school in America there is a kid with the potential for athletic prowess and agility of RG3 with the desire and intelligence to master the understanding of football on the cerebral plain like Matt Ryan and Peyton Manning. That's the guy you want running the spread in the NFL. |

It actually works until RGIII's wiry ass gets smashed and he's out for several weeks. Sort of like with Vick. Oddly, Cam and (if he could throw) Tebow are better candidates since they are built to take the hits a little better. |

Its hard to argue the pattern. Mobile an comes into league under great fanfare wins spectacular games in his first season. Vicky rules are applied in year two forcing mobile qb to rely on skills he's never had to sharpen and he fails. That said RG3 is different because his intermediate passing game is far more developed than any of his predecessors.

But you have to treat your QBs as RBs. The $100 million deals won't be sustainable if your QB only has a 5 year lifespan in the league. |
