Sean Gilbert doesn't regret sitting out, backs Drew Brees' stand
Really good article from NFL.com about an interview with Sean Gilbert, who sat out the 1997 season after being hit with the franchise tag.
Article Here Quote:It has been nine years since Sean Gilbert last played in the NFL, and 15 since his epic standoff with the league, the Washington Redskins and the franchise tag. The Man In Black

God, please let this blow up, and Drew hold them hostage. I swear, the man better realize that with "bountygate" the topic of the day, defenses will be going after him hard, and a one year deal combined with an injury means he fucked up bad if he ever signs his offer.

I don't know, I were a saints fan I'd not be feeling too good about it, at least not until someone I met once through a friend of someone else gets a thumbs up from Loomis, once that happens I find it has quite the calming effect.

Isn't the tag like 24 million for this season? Give the guy a 5 year/100 million dollar deal (Mort's estimate) and save your franchise some damn dignity for once. The guy is one of the greatest of all time, give him what he deserves. Actually, don't, so I can have another thing to laugh at regarding your joke of a team.

The QB exclusive tag for this year is like $16.3 million http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...-argument/

It will only be $24 Mil next year (2013) IF they count his first franchise tag in SD in the new collective bargaining agreement.
I think his injury in SD, and his trouble getting a deal after that, is what is making him scared to take a one year tag and risking injury ending his money-making career. Of course, if he signs for 5 years guaranteed and gets hurt, NO is SCREWED on the cap for years to come... which would be as funny for us (the cap, not injury) as him holding out this year. So many great ways this could blow up for NO! I'm on the edge of my seat! Formerly SBC Falcon

They are nuts not to sign him. Be has earned the money and he hasn't had any injury issues since joining the team. They have no one to take his place. The Saints don't have a choice. The team is going to be so disfunctional this year.

I would love to see them bring back Aaron Brooks.
