Payton is the only real material hit and if Carmichael and Brees hadn't been intricately involved in game planning for the past several years I would be more worried about that. I truly expect the team to step it up and "win one for Payton." Now on to getting Lofton signed. He'll be good insurance against Vilma getting any time. Saints Fan Since 1967

I'm gonna say Guido is showing a good poker face and he is currently crying inside.

And any suspensions, if they do occur, will be staggered. I would think that fines would be more likely as not to punish other teams. Smith Ellis Vilma Greer Harper Jenkins Unless I'm wrong, but all those guys could face serious suspension time considering they were all starters since the bounty program began. NO has not lost a defensive player worth a damn in years. While there is a bright side to that, the down side is that there is nearly a 100% probability that those 7 guys all partook in the program the most. |

I truly expect the team to step it up and "win one for Payton." First question: When does Loomis' suspension take effect? If it starts on April first (like Payton's), then there is an inherent second question: Who's going to sign Drew Brees? Also, Lofton met with Loomis (suspended), Payton (suspended), Vitt (suspended) and Spagnolo. I'm no NFL starter, but I know if I interviewed for a job at a company, and 3 of the 4 people that interviewed me for were suspended/fired for incompetence (best analogy I can give here), I would have no interest in working for said company. Don't underestimate the divisions this will cause. The locker room will not be the same, and everyone is going to look around wondering who will leak everything said inside it just to get in with ESPN for a gig after retirement. There will not be the joking and laughter of before... this year the locker room will not be a fun place. As such, don't expect people to stay late or come early. Just want to remind you, Guido, that I warned you, and you laughed at this. Media Circus, engaged. Formerly SBC Falcon

First answer: Loomis' suspension is for the first eight games of the regular season. Second question answered by the first. Also, DT. Broderick Bunkley met with Loomis (suspended), Payton (suspended), Vitt (suspended) and Spagnolo and just signed a five year deal today. This will have no affect on a Lofton deal. Players want to play for the Saints because they know they have a very legitimate shot at a ring. Saints Fan Since 1967

Just as I pointed out weeks ago, all of this has been put the the media grinder and nothing new is really there to rehash. Yes, it is news and will be mentioned, but Peyton Manning, Tim Tebow, March Madness, baseball and the upcoming draft are still dominating and will continue to dominate the news. So, yes, I continue to laugh.
