They are one in the same.

Under the table payments for interceptions, touchdowns, sacks, etc. Yeah, we're hearing how that's common all over the place. You're not hearing that every team puts out bounties on players and pays players for hurting them.

The Saints didn't do that either. All of the bounty systems work the same way. The players put up their own money to form a pool. The teams aren't sponsoring them. It is all player driven. Yes, Gregg Williams has a history of promoting it everywhere he has been, but the teams themselves do not fund the activity.

Cool. So if I encourage someone to murder his family I am not culpable if he does it, so long as I don't actually pull the trigger?

Face it dude, you're just rationalizing.

No one was murdered. Hell, I can't even remember an opposing player getting carted off in two years. The bounty sure wasn't very affective.

Football is a violent game. The defensive players are all taught to hit as hard as possible. If an opponent is taken out of a game that is a plus. Any player in the league will tell you that. Hits do not have to be criminal to take out a player. Both Favre and Warner have come out saying that they had nothing against the Saints for what happened to them. If they don't have a problem with it why would you?

As I said, it has always been a part of the game. Even your own player, Roddy White, said it is a "league wide" thing. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Falcons players had there own pool going.

My old boss was an NFL LB with New York and Houston. He used to talk about this type of stuff all the time and said he knew it was still going on.

Yes, they did. Gregg Williams, members of the organization, agents, and players contributed to a pool where pay-outs went to players who made plays such as sacks and interceptions, as well as injured players.

The team became responsible when the head coach and GM knew about something illegal going on, and did not stop it. Regardless of the distribution of money, it's like saying held no responsibility for what went on Sundusky the boy toucher.

What they did was wrong and they got caught and will be punished. It doesn't make me any less of a fan.

I'm expecting the max penalty just like NE got with a loss of a #1 and max fines for the coach and team.

RE: Saints Lombardi devalued!
There is no way of justifying the bounty for injured players. It doesn't taint the Super Bowl win necessarily but in many peoples eyes it lowers the awe of the win.

A bounty for performance is fine...altho illegal according to NFL rules. But putting 10k on the table for injuring Brett Favre is too far and the punishment will not only affect draft picks and fines but some players may be reluctant to sign long term there depending on the penalty.

How fires it devalue the championship they won, and the wins they have got?
