Yes, there was a bounty program. Plenty of proof has been presented. Even documentaries by former Saints players. And no, the league is not calling it pay for performance.

Like you said, that was three weeks ago and those were quotes from Goodell, NOT judgements by the Times-Picayune. That was also before the hearing in District court where several players and Vitt testified under oath that there were no bounties. It was in that hearing that the league lawyers claimed that the pay for performance program was equivalent to bounties because there were rewards for whacks and cartoffs. They said nothing whatsoever about any "targeting of opponents with malicious intent". They couldn't because it didn't happen. Goodell is desperate to settle this thing out of court. He offered to cut Vilma's suspension to eight games and Vilma told him no. Goodell and his lawyers know that they made a mistake in judgement and that mistake WILL be exposed.

Once again, to date, there has been ZERO evidence as to there being a bounty system in place that targeted players for intentional injury as has been claimed. None whatsoever. That is because none exists.
