I would but I have a sig bet with him this season... so I have to put up his trolling juvenile BS until the end of the season.

Year 1: $3 million base, $7.4 million bonus, $10.4 million cap number
Year 2: $13 million base, $7.4 million bonus, $20.4 million cap number
Year 3: $8 million base, $7.4 million bonus, $15.4 million cap number
Year 4: $19 million base, $7.4 million bonus, $26.4 million cap number
Year 5: $20 million base, $7.4 million bonus, $27.4 million cap number

I know year 1 is right, but I could be wrong about the other 4.

You're almost completely right. What I saw Adam Schefter and others tweet out was that the cap hits are as follows:

2012: 10.4M
2013: 17.4M
2014: 18.4M
2015: 26.4M
2016: 27.4M

That's not saying what you think it is.

Yes, they saved $6M because Brees tender would have paid him $16M which would have been the cap hit for him this year, but with his new deal, he's only a $10M cap hit.

Before Brees even signed, however, the Saints were only $2.16M under the cap. And I'm not even sure if their 4th round pick, Nick Toon, has even signed yet. Not that he will be a big impact to the cap, but it's at least another $500k.

With Brees $10M this year, the Saints are around $8M over the cap.

What a coward. He barely shows his face the more things go against his team. Just like all aint fans with the paper bags. I am fairly certain that after bountygate, no player in history will be wearing as big a bullseye as Drew will this season.

but but but.......the players around the league all know this is a complete farce, so brees has no reason to be afraid of any of them targeting him

i personally hope brees has a joe theisman moment, all the better if it happens in TC, and if it's loftin that does it

Chew on THAT, Petunia!

I thought the $2 million number included Brees' $16 million tender.

RE: Saints Bounty Thread
Brees blinked. He must of realized that his demands and his public accusation of the Saints as dealing in bad faith were both way out of line.

The Saints originally offered 19.5M/yr and Bree's wanted 22-23M/yr. The deal got done at 20M/yr. Based on that you have to conclude that if anyone was dealing in bad faith, it certainly was not the Saints.

I am so glad we don't have a prima donna like Brees running our offense. Ryan may not be the brightest bulb in the bunch, but he has integrity and trustworthiness. Brees has been touted as having great leadership skills, but they will be sorely tested this year as there are a bunch of loose strings flailing about the Saints locker room any of which could unravel the team's fabric and make even the Jets look like a cohesive unit in comparison.
