It may be regardless. I'm not sure how he is going to bounce back from the off-season knee surgery. It was minor, but he has had a lot of work done on that knee recently. I really think Vilma is much more concerned with his reputation and the hit his foundation might take. He is committed to building charter schools in his home country of Haiti and corporate sponsorship is vital.

Oh I'm sure that he had the personal prior but if this was the best way to get the evidence then he had plenty of opportunity to file this lawsuit before the grievance hearing.

I believe that Vilma and his lawyer had this discussion to file this lawsuit if everything didnt go as planned at the grievance hearing.

It's just real suspicious that this was filed right after the hearing

Nothing has come out of the hearing as of yet. It could very well still come out in the NFLPA's favor. But, that would still be no guarantee that the evidence would have a chance to be challenged. That's why I feel there is no direct relationship between the two. Vilma has been hinting at this for quite some time on twitter, but I was expecting it to be the NFL as the defendant. This has a much better chance at success. And by success I mean getting to see and challenge the evidence.

He doubts it gets past first motion to dismiss

If it does get to court, Vilma has to prove not only that the NFL lied, but that they were malicious in intent. Overwhelmingly difficult for Vilma to be able to prove malicousness.

Did say that Vilma's attorney is a good one.

BOOM! Like I said, a desperation move, a last resort. I know the hearing isn't complete but I'm telling you that something went on at that hearing that wasn't positive from Vilma's perspective and this is the result of it.
