RE: Saints Bounty Thread
I was having lunch with my mom and grandfather today, when my grandfather brought up the Saints and Bountygate. My mom, who knows next to nothing about football, inquired, "Is that the team who cheated in the Super Bowl?" I replied, "Pretty much." And so the legitimacy of the Saints championship further deteriorates.
There is no amount of "proof" that can undo the perception currently held by football fans and non-fans alike on this matter. The Taints, the Black Sox, Ben Johnson, the Boston College basketball team, Barry Bonds... all one in the same at this point. Who really cares if it's true or not? The real beauty here is that no Saints fan can ever bring up their Super Bowl win again in any sort of public forum without having to encounter words like "bounty" and "cheaters." That's the reality of the situation and it won't change until the Saints win a post-Bountygate Super Bowl. Tick, tock. Tick tock. The fact that frantic homers like Guido are all over the internet desperately attempting to restore the honor of their fallen franchise makes me happier than just about anything. Everytime he vainly posts another one of his useless articles, I crack a huge smile knowing he and his ilk are suffering so over all this. |
