I know, exactly. But, it was when he announced the punishment for the front office personnel almost two months earlier that he made public the accusations against the players that was wholly predicated on bounties placed on specific players to be targeted for intentional injury and gave the example of Vilma placing $10000 dollars on Brett Favre. That matched the first three caveats of his later statement.

"I focused on players who were in leadership positions at the Saints; contributed a particularly large sum of money toward the program; specifically contributed to a bounty on an opposing player;"

But, now you are telling me the punishment was instead for the add-ons after that initial announcement?

"demonstrated a clear intent to participate in a program that potentially injured opposing players; sought rewards for doing so; and/OR obstructed the 2010 investigation."

It sounds to me like he couldn't prove what he initially declared and he couldn't let up on the players since he already went WAY overboard on the front office people, so he added the second part, picked a few of the supposed 22-27 and let them have it.

So, yes, we both agree the punishment was excessive. But, I also believe the accusations were false in that they were not convicted of what they were originally charged. They got 20 year terms for running a red light.

The troll is never going to change its' idiotic stance so there is no point in arguing with it.

Perhaps it is because ATLBound treating it as a debate, as am I. He is making well thought out arguments, as am I. I respect his opinion far, far more than some others here because he takes the time to at least look at the other side.

And if I was trolling I wouldn't be doing my best to keep this subject within this one thread, while trying to make subject oriented posts in other threads as I have always done.

You are welcome to not open this thread if it disturbs you.

This post is where your bias shows. I think you're being a spin doctor on this one. When he made this statement, there weren't any rebuttals, lawsuits, arguments, debates, etc. against Goodell and the NFL.

You suggesting we tie a bandana to our wrists and go at it with a knife?

This is much more enjoyable and no one should get hurt ... other than Beef, perhaps. He could blow a gasket.

Cart Off has a specific meaning in football that even my daughter, just learning to identify defensive formations, knows clearly, but these professional players somehow created a world where that clearly defined word means something else?

No wonder they think they're innocent. They lived in Fantasy Land, where Milk is Juice and Legs are Toes!

And I never though Brees would not be signed. I just relished in every day he was held without a contract, knowing the damage it was further doing to your team. Feel free to watch the following weeks for proof of said damage.

Another claim debunked....the word "bounty" didn't come from Goodell or the NFL. It came from the Saints themselves.
