RE: Saints Bounty Thread
I've considered them. I thought I saw a flag flying and heard patriotic music playing in the background. Here is how I see it:
A. Saints got paid for big hits B. Some of those big hits caused cart-offs and injuries C. Saints got paid for big hits D. If those big hits caused cart-offs and injuries, then.... Conclusion: Saints got paid for causing injuries, which in a technicality is true. |

Why not the Raiders? Or the Rams? Or anybody but the Saints? What is it about the Saints that made them the "sacrificial lamb?" |

It dropped into his lap back in 2010 when Mike Cerullo came to him with the claim that the Saints had a bounty. The same Mike Cerullo that had just been fired for taking TWO emergency "vacations" during the 2009 season that were discovered to have been bogus. The league investigated his claims and found nothing. Two full years later, with no interim investigations, the league came to the Saints again with claims of bounties. It turns out that they somehow now had a handwritten ledger. The same ledger that did not match up to any actual events in the games in had been claimed to represent. Rumors are that Cerullo also supplied this ledger, which also had erroneously indicated that Joe Vitt had contributed $5000 which Goodell admitted later was a mistake. This was about the same time as the lawsuits started up against the league. It was January 2012. Goodell obviously saw an opportunity to show the league's commitment to safety by making an example of the Saints who just happened to be in the right place at the wrong time due to a disgruntled former employee. Individual that were interviewed during the investigation have reported that all questioning was based upon predetermined results. Fact that negated the claims were ignored. The whole investigation was a farce. That is why Tom Benson hired the Freeh Agency to investigate all of the claims. I can't wait to see those results. You see, the Saints were not "targeted" in this. They just happened to have a man with a vendetta and another with an agenda that converged upon them. There is no conspiracy. This wasn't all planned. It just happened and it was totally misguided. Saints Fan Since 1967

That point is not being disputed. They all admit that like any other pay for performance program across the league there were awards for hard hits. The dispute is over the claim that warranted ALL of the suspensions in one way or another that the Saints targeted specific players with the express intent to injure in return for cash payments. In other words, bounties. To date, there has been no evidence that this did indeed occur even though Goodell continues to vacillate between that hard line interpretation of a bounty and a fluffy version he mentioned in his recent email to fans stating that ... "The bounty prohibition forbids offering or accepting any reward - cash or otherwise - for on-field misconduct, plays that incentivize or result in injury to opposing players, or for performance against an opposing player, group of players, or team." In other words, a payment from a pool for recovering a fumble is now in his words a BOUNTY and justifies all totally unparalleled punishments. Saints Fan Since 1967

And no, Goodell isn't being dishonest, he has based a major decision on faulty information and ideas of opportunity and has now backed himself and the league into a corner. No, the "King" does have clothes. They just don't happen to be very coordinated. RE: Saints Bounty Thread
This just keeps getting better. It's like Guido is officially brainwashed and believes all the "its been reported" to be hard facts.
It just doesn't work like that.

This is a Falcons forum. We're going to say shit about our rivals and make fun of them. You don't need to come defend it every single time and make it about you and the Saints and try to defeat us in a debate. You're replying to Falcons stuff in too many other threads too. You're an outside and frankly we're sick of your input because there's always some slant on it. Why the mods are letting you stay this long I have no idea. You're certainly making me want to check these forums less. Which I bet you like, because that's what trolls like, and that's what you are. |
