NFL: Rumor: Ron Rivera to be fired Monday.

Well reading all the reports and listening to them on the radio/TV, it seems like Ron Rivera should be getting the boot in Carolina on Monday. He's set to meet with Jerry Richardson sometime in the morning.

Everyone is saying it's all but a done deal. Kind of a raw deal for Rivera, I think he could be a solid coach if they gave him some more time.

What I'm really trying to get to with this thread though, who do you think the Panthers are so interested in that they want to dump Rivera? Could they perhaps be interested in, or already extended an offer to, Chip Kelly? In my opinion, that would be the best fit of all the teams around - Carolina and Kelly. We have all seen and know what Cam Newton is capable of. Also, we all know (at least I believe everyone does) that Carolina is a solid football team that suffered some injuries and went through a serious case of under achieving this past year. Could you imagine Cam Newton in a Chip Kelly offense?

Of course it won't be the same as his college schemes, but it should be very close - or at least something like we see with Russell Wilson. Dangerous. Hopefully they don't get Kelly.

Oh. Well, that's very interesting. As I posted this it came out that the meeting between Rivera and Richardson was moved up to Saturday morning and Rivera was retained. I do have impeccable timing.

Well, that solves that.

Rivera has to take some blame for all the games where the Panthers had the leading going to the 4th quarter and then loss.
