The NFL wont bow down like MLB did.

Don't forget that the NFL has the Antitrust exemption that they hold over the NFL's head. The House Judiciary Committee threatened to attempt to overturn the exemption last March. Now the Senate subcommittee is getting involved too. This is what I meant by coming around to bite him. It has nothing to do with the Saints. Goodell has likely opened a can of worms that owners will not be too happy about.

I am going to enjoy every minute of discomfort that Goodell experiences.

Like I said, we're in the "Anger" stage of the 5 stages.

A lot of Saints fans are in the Anger stage, though quite a few are still in Denial. I can't wait for bargaining, depression (this is going to be my personal favorite), though I'm starting to think they'll never get to acceptance.

I foresee depression slowly settling in around week 3 of the season.

Guido seems to be bouncing back and forth between denial and anger at this point.

Like that press conference at the owner's meeting? That was a walk in the park for Roger. No enjoyment for you there.

Did you note that he is still looking for evidence of other teams doing the bounty thing? Send in your evidence right away. He seemed ready to roll on that front. That will surely make things better for the Saints once you guys prove that everyone was doing it.

He also said that the player's punishments would get announced as soon the Player's Association had responded to his proposal. He seemed eager to get that done. I am sure you are eager to have that out of the way as well.

Please don't forget that, as Father Sarducci explained, you have to "pay for your sins". Those angry thoughts may only cost a quarter apiece, but they can add up in a hurry. You might have to come back as a national guardsman if you are not careful!

Peace!

I am looking forward to hearing about any possible player sanctions. Do you have any guesses as to what would be coming down?

Oh, as for Goodell's discomfort, I expect that to come at the hands of the government committee and at the hands of his bosses, the owners, if he screws up their Antitrust exemption.

If the hearings happen the government tools will be falling all over themselves to support the NFL which, after all, is one of the most popular entities in the country. They will applaud Goodell's efforts to clean up the game and make it safer for the children and for the NFL heros who play in their respective states. Tim Tebow will be the star witness and he will come down on the side of cleaning up the game. The Saints will get no satisfaction out of this process at all. The players and coaches would be wise to avoid the hearings if possible and take the fifth if forced to testify.
Benson will be treated sympathetically and so the general manager will be the fall guy since he has the smallest fan club.
