NFL: ProFootballFocus: 2011 Pass Blocking Efficiency: Offensive Tackles

Above is the link. I would normally post the whole thing, but it would require way too much in the way of editing even be readable. I'll just post the four most relevant bits of information that I took from it.

1. Harvey Dahl played 200 snaps at RT for the Rams, and his play in that time gave him the best PBE rating in the entire league. They note that his relatively low snap count(most of the guys on the list around in the 500 snap range) and the fact he played in an offense that got the ball out quickly helped, but it's still impressive.

2. Tyson Clabo ranked 8th in the league in PBE. This put him above a few well known names such as Matt Light, Jake Long, and Michael Roos.

3. Duane Brown of the Texans placed 12th on the list. For those that do not know, Brown was picked in the 1st round of the 2008 NFL Draft. We traded up for Sam Baker at 21st, while Brown was picked 26th.

4. Sam Baker was the 2nd worst in the entire league in PBE. Absolutely horrible. He's three spots behind GUY WHIMPER for the love of all. Ouch.

That article and grading system doesn't take into account penalties. Not sure how they could, but I'd argue it should be considered. I don't remember how many Clabo had total, and it may be less than I'm thinking, but I just remember him getting flagged on a handful of plays that absolutely killed drives.

It's about Pass Blocking Efficiency, not their overall grade, which looks at how they do on screens, run blocking, pass blocking, and includes penalties.

EDIT: Clabo had 5 penalties last year.

1. 3rd and 2 against Green Bay, post-snap, 0 yard run by Snelling
2. 3rd and 9 against Detroit, post-snap, Ryan was sacked for a loss of 9 yards
3. 2nd and 8 against Minnesota, pre-snap, offsides at MIN 44
4. 1st and 10 against Houston, post-snap, Turner ran for 5 yard
5. 3rd and 4 against New Orleans(2), post-snap, 6 yard reception by Gonzalez.

I'd say the only one that really hurt was the one against New Orleans. The rest of them were almost pointless outside of the Houston one, which wasn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Fair enough. I'm glad he had a better season statistically than I thought he did.

According to this, Clabo had 2 in the GB game. I distinctly remember the one on third down, then it was 3rd and long and Matt missed HD.
