NFL: Pre-season seems different this year

The new Training Camp rules are adding zest to the pre-season. Players on the bubble always go all out but this year the first and second quarters seem more entertaining. I think I am seeing more of the playbook than usual also.

In another note; Belichek sat 27 players last week and then pushed the Eagles around pretty good. After a NE TD the ref announced that Philly had jumped the extra point snap and the penalty would be assessed on the kickoff. Bellichek overruled him and took the point off the board and ran in a two point conversion. He needed to practice that more than another kickoff. I would like to see Coach Mike run a few more 4th and ones and onside kicks these next two weeks. I would like it if about half of all pre-sseason kick=offs were onside kicks. Why worry about giving the D a short field in a practice game?

Not completely disagreeing with you, but all that extra practice for 4th and 1s and onside kicks, which happen maybe once a game and once every 2-1/2 games respectively, would negatively affect practice for punting and defense, which happen maybe 3 times a game and 60 times a game respectively.

I just don't understand why we didn't go for a couple times on 4th down when during a regular season game we might have gone for it in those situations. Why not practice it?

Special Teams needs practice too.
