RE: Patriots cut CB Leigh Bodden
I really like the guy, but honestly I think we've been very solid, especially with Hayden playin instead of Owens.

RE: Patriots cut CB Leigh Bodden
I wouldn't, hes banged up thats why they dropped him, But its just his Thumb and a past shoulder injury, the pats defense has a bunch of no names on their CBs. probably why their doing so bad defense wise
![]() FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots have released Leigh Bodden, according to players in the team's locker room who were informed of the cornerback's departure Friday morning. The move, which was first reported by ProFootballTalk.com, was confirmed by Bodden's agent, Alvin Keels. "He's enjoyed this time in New England, but after meeting with Coach (Bill) Belichick this morning, both parties agreed it was time to move on," Keels said. "Leigh still has a strong desire to play football and welcomes his next opportunity to compete for a Super Bowl. Leigh is totally healthy and can contribute right away." Asked about the report at his Friday morning news conference, Belichick said the team did not have an announcement at that time. When he was asked later about Bodden's play this season, Belichick said: "I think we'll skip that one right now." Bodden had been battling a thumb injury and was listed as limited in practice this week with the injury. Because Bodden's release comes after the trade deadline, he will have to pass through waivers before becoming a free agent. The move comes one day after rookie cornerback Ras-I Dowling (hip) did not practice for the first time this week. Without Bodden, the Patriots have Devin McCourty, Kyle Arrington, Dowling, Antwaun Molden, and Phillip Adams on their roster at cornerback. The Patriots re-signed Bodden to a four-year contract following a five-interception season in 2009, his first in New England. He missed all of 2010 with a shoulder injury. Bodden played in five games this season as the Patriots' nickel cornerback. |

RE: Patriots cut CB Leigh Bodden
The Patriots have the worst pass defense in the league this year by a country mile. If the guy can't contribute for them, I don't think he can contribute for the Falcons either.

RE: Patriots cut CB Leigh Bodden
I personally wouldn't mind seeing him here if the money was right. He's somewhat of a victim of the Patriots more or less switching defensive schemes in a radical fashion this year while blowing up the defensive roster along with it. They went from a Cover 3 defense to a press-man defense in one shortened off-season. The Patriots used to play what people have started calling a "Bend But Don't Break" defense, and he's the perfect versatile zone type that would fit our scheme. He's no Asante Samuel, who would be a PERFECT fit for us, but he's a starting caliber player.
Guys like him, Asante, Hayden, Grimes, are perfect fits for zone defenses while they can also play off-man coverage as well. |
