No London Bucs' - 3 straight Ram visits.
link
This should officially kill any fringe Bucs' moving to London theories, But with the Rams committing to 3 straight years pours gas on the L.A. Rams rumors. St. Louis now only has 7 regular season games. The Rams have found themselves near the center of the talk, and near certainty that LA will have a team in the very near future. Rightfully so, they were always more LA's team than the Raiders or Chargers were. They also got swindled out of LA by a crazy old lady, she's dead now, it's time for the Rams to go home. Your thoughts? ![]()

RE: No London Bucs' - 3 straight Ram visits.
Coincidence or not? The Rams have but 3 years remaining on their stadium lease in the Loo and now this arrangement where the Londoners can have a team to identify with and connect to over the next....ummmmm, let's see, 3 years? Come on now!
It's about as obvious as it can get that the NFL is positioning the Rams for a franchise free agency move to jolly old land, is it not? Unlike some, I'm not against this move as it's both inevitable and needed to expand the grand American game beyond the North American continent. If/when the Rams or another franchise finally start operating out of London, the travel will be a daunting task even in their division. West coast trip from London anyone? That's about a 10 hour flight but on a chartered plane with luxury accomodations, I guess there are far worse things to encounter. I once flew 17 straight hours from Atlanta to Capetown South Africa and was fried for the next two days in attempts to adjust my body to the time change and all. How might a 10 hour flight impact the players comparably? The London Rams. Sort of rolls off the tongue? The folks in St Louis have to be nervous about their team to say the least. |

RE: No London Bucs' - 3 straight Ram visits.
I live in London and I gotta say it would make more sense for the NFL to invest and build up a real NFL Europe league than to put an existing Franchise through this. The fact is that British players are now at a standard where they can compete with US kids for scholarships, I coached a kid who has a full scholarship to Bouse. I've played with guys who got to be walk on additions to squads at Oklahoma and Miami.
I think it would be far more sensible to continue international development that way. Make a Partnership where the NFL brings some Funding but mainly it's expertise in operations. Perhaps a few coaches and reintroducing the opportunity for 1 or 2 draft picks or PS squad players that won't get much starting time to come and play over here. Guys like Warner and Grimes did it. Essentially it could create a better quality minor league to begin with before it in maybe 10 or more years grows into a fully fledged European FL. who knows in 20 to 30 years the Pro Bowl could evolve in to a competition between the best American players and the most winning European team of that year or something of that Nature. I don't think the Superbowl should ever be touched. But if the NFL is serious about expanding the game. I believe helping the league infrastructures that are already in place in Britain the Netherlands. Germany Finland France And Austria to form a proper EFL is a better way to do it. And of course they can still take a majority stake and split the rest of ownership between the existing national bodies. I dunno but I think the Rams being here for 3 years is a bad move. A lot of people liked the idea of getting excited about who would be coming each year now instead of 6 different teams perhaps coming you have 3. I would like to see Atlanta at Wembley it would be surreal. But as Jedi once said why not make it an away game for both teams rather than take it away from the home fans. I'm one of those people who is for the idea, but against the way all this is being executed thus far. |

I think they use a home game due to poor attendance.

Amazes me that a city that size doesn't have a pro football team. well, not that the current Rams team would fix that, but you know what i mean Chew on THAT, Petunia!

i have absolutely no idea what this answer will be, so i'll ask and maybe someone can give a good answer. how did NFL Europe go? i realize it was kind of like the 'minor league'. but were those games sell outs or did they have good attendance? I have hosted a couple of exchange students, and neither of them was much impressed with football, they're all stuck on soccer. Chew on THAT, Petunia!
