Yeah, a lot of black stereotypes are actually southern. The majority of African Americans live in the South, and it's one of the only areas in the country that has many towns predominantly black. So, a ton of things that are considered black are more accurately southern. Another large segment of things considered black are more accurately "poor Southern" as the socioeconomic factors we won't get into play in. Suffice it to say, take a white family or a black family from mid Georgia or Alabama, and there's lots of grits, cornbread, fried chicken, collard greens, watermelon, etc. And it's all good. |
