It would eliminate the open dates for the top seeds which gives us as fans four extra games to watch and keeps teams from getting cold.

I like 16 instead of 14 for the simple fact that it does away with the bye. But 50% of the teams making the post season is too much. It would be like a 64 team college football playoff to put it into perspective. You get far enough down the line that you are rewarding teams that really have no business being in the playoffs. Sure one of them may go on a run and win it all but it drastically marginalizes the regular season.

Wasn't the last SF Rams game exciting?

Exactly!

What do you dislike about the bye week?

I like it because we have to find a way to reward teams who had sustained success throughout the regular season other than HFA. HFA is getting less and less beneficial every year it seems.

Bye weeks help with rest, nagging injuries, and an edge on gameplanning.

It was a great game. The excitement on that last run was amazing. Isn't this what football is all about for viewers, entertainment. That was an entertaining game regardless of the records.

What about 8-8 teams? That's happened. That doesn't change my point.

Re: OT
Also, kickers are far more accurate at longer distances now. Starting at around the 20, essentially a team could win in OT after giving up about 40 yards, or two medium pass plays.

Remember, it was that regular season NY OT loss that we all hated so much (we had momentum, and would have won with new OT rules) that got the spur up Rich McKay's ass to make the competition committee look at changing the rule.

Yep I knew we lost that game when we lost the coin toss.

RE: NFL Owners Want To Expand Playoffs?
With 3 weeks to go in the season 24 of 32 teams are still alive for the playoffs. Another reason why the playoffs don't need to be expanded.
