NFL: NFL Owners Want To Expand Playoffs?

Roger Goodell said NFL is exploring the idea of expanding the playoffs from 12 to 14 or 16 teams. Good idea?

This is an absolutely horrible idea. The NFL playoffs are perfect just they way they are. Heck I can make a strong case that 12 playoff teams are too much. But to increase the playoffs would be so stupid.

Roger Goodell is a terrible commissioner. He didn't get his 18-game regular season schedule so now he wants to add more playoff games. Yet there's a ton of players that can't hold up through the 16-game schedule.

Agreed this would be a bad idea. Seems like they are trying to change things just for the sake of changing them.

I'm not saying that I like/dislike it, but I haven't heard one good reason so far why this is good or bad.

Personally, Im in the middle. I really like how the playoffs are now.

Why I would dislike it? Because it would lower the competitiveness

Why I would like it? More football and playoff football at that

On a sidenote, I don't think this is a proper moment to bash Goodell. I'm not a huge fan of him as much as the next person, but we have to understand that the media outlets and leaks to media are the highest they have ever been at this point. We don't know who brought it to the table, if previous commissioners and owners have talked about this before, if it was a huge point of the meeting or if it was small talk.

Come on folks this is a great subject. Lets actually discuss WHY we don't/do like it, not just call out Goodell with no reasons given.

Exactly ATLBound. Goodell doesn't say anything the owners don't want him to. You people (one in particular) painting him as a renegade rebel are buying exactly what the owners are selling. He is there to insulate them from the words they put in his mouth. Attacking him is pointless... they would just replace him with another puppet. Attack the ideas and words, not the person.

More playoff games is a bad idea, but it is not the idea of Goodell alone.

People act like the NFL hasn't always been an evolving sport, things change quite often with Professional football, the game they play today is absolutely nothing like the game as it was first played.
