Yeah . . . I think this is a dead horse that's been beaten already. Both sides are greedy and horribly out of touch with the fans. End of story.

Why did you butt in? Was it not obvious Karst implied it was only the owners at fault rather than both of them?

Or are you still one of the guys who thinks the players are innocent?

I'm inclined to blame whichever party opted out of the CBA, demanded more money and then promptly enacted a work stoppage when they didn't receive it.

But that's just me.

RE: NFL Cancelling Next Month's Rookie Symposium
I dont know if I even give a shit at this point, they may as well just cancel the whole season now. Take the year to work all this bullshit out, get it fixed, then start it over in 2012.

I just dont understand the sports industry as a whole. Companies like Microsoft, McDonalds, Sears, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucls, Budweiser, all multi-billion dollare money makers - they never have labor disputes. They keep business running - and they keep making billions. But because of Unions in Sports, we have to go through this shit about once every decade. The Owners already have their money so they dont care if they close the doors for a year. The Players have their money too, so they can take a year vacation and enjoy their time off. Fans are left with nothing except feelings of anger and loss and we cant do anything about it except bitch and find something else to occupy our time with.

As my own way of saying "Fuck You" to the NFL, its Owners, and its Players. I just ordered a Matt Ryan Jersey. For $17. From China. A friend of mine at work ordered a replica Boston Red Sox jersey from the same distributor and they sent him an Authentic one valued at over $200, complete with a MLB American Champion patch on the sleeve. Stitch for stitch it looks authentic. My RYan jersey should arrive in 2 weeks and I didnt pay a dime to the NFL for it. So fuck them.

I just placed my order for season tickets for EVERY team in the UFL. Will I actually go to any of the games? No I probably will not attend a single one, however, hopefully with my cancellation of Falcon season tickets and spending A LOT of money(I got money so that not an issue for me) on the nfl's only completion will send a message.

This again, really?

The CBA had expired TWICE before and they extended it. It EXPIRED again this year. They didn't "opt out of it". It was written 9 years ago in a different economy with different contract sizes with different costs of doing business and less revenue dollars in general. You clearly don't know shit about inflation, the costs of doing business, or what's considered a reasonable return on investment with regards to this amount of money. I do. This is what I do for a living. This is what I got a masters degree for and have been doing for a dozen years.

Not to mention, do you have NFL players as clients that you've spoken to about this? Do you have ex-NFL players as your business partners? All of which are telling me it's the players who are mostly in the wrong here? Seriously, I have players telling me they understand why the owners wanted a revised CBA with more revenue taken off the top.

Yet here we have you, who doesn't have a shred of real knowledge or credibility in this trying to contradict people who do simply because you identify better with the poor worker than the big bad evil employer.

Both sides aren't innocent in this affair, but one side is much more in the right that you understand.

To tell you the truth I'm not really interested enough in the Genesis of this dispute or who is more culpable at this point. I have read and seen enough to know that any reasonable resolution at this stage isn't going to require either side to bend over and take it up the ass.

Unfortunately what we are left with is egos, massive, wildly spiraling out of control egos on both sides. I firmly believe right now that it is more important for everyone concerned to look like they won than for there to be a fair settling of the situation.....

Because of that factor this thing may go deep into the summer....

Assholes all around.
