Merrill Hoge
Merrill Hoge has always been an idiot and that's not gonna change ever. But he just said on NFL Matchup that the San Francisco 49ers have the best offense in the NFL.

RE: Merrill Hoge
Well, it's like they've been claiming for years. . . Pigs CAN fly.

RE: Merrill Hoge
I've always thought his lapels were too tight for clear thinking.

RE: Merrill Hoge
I don't think the pieces add up to it on paper, but that means nothing when you're all on the same page and playing well together. They are looking good.

I do still believe they are in for a fall this season. 10 wins max.

RE: Merrill Hoge
It is too early to say that he is wrong. Their run game is very good and Alex Smith is managing the game pretty well.

I don't worry about what TV analysts say. They often contradict themselves and think nothing of it. Hodge is an old school guy and he loves the Niners philosophy. So be it. In the end, it is all talk.

RE: Merrill Hoge
All the other teams he wanted to pick are either 0 and 1 or barely won.

RE: Merrill Hoge
Merrill has brain damage from all of the concussions that he suffered when he played. I read an interview with him where he said when he first started appearing on tv he would stay up the entire night practicing his line and would still have trouble remembering them.

RE: Merrill Hoge
Well I have to admit after watching the Niners for 2 straight games they're offense is much better this year than it was last year. Alex Smith is actually making teams pay for selling out against the run.

I hate to admit this but Hoge might be right.

RE: Merrill Hoge
Their offense looks good this year, a lot better than last year, but I'm not going to sit and say that they have the best offense in the league right now. However, it could very well be the most balanced offense in the league. Probably one of the only teams that can run the ball effectively and pass effectively. You aren't going to see too many big plays out of them though, and when a team doesn't have big play potential, it could turn into a problem later in the season.
