I hope everyone realizes this. good points, BUT think how bad it would have been if we'd done this last year with the lockouts. i'm betting we push the offseason workouts/OTA's as far as we can. and it looks like there are several Jax fans who might frequent our boards after reading some of those quotes. no i don't pity them at all, surely they've done SOMETHING to deserve it. they probably like pork barbeque or something Chew on THAT, Petunia!

RE: MM is GONE!
well since both coordinators are gone, i could see one of the following happening for next year:
A: Bratkowski is made OC, lessening the impact of learning a new guy, and would be very similar in scheme. With this move, a completely new DC could be brought in for Coach Smith to work with full time. B: a completely NEW OC is brought in. whole new system, whole new learning process. To lessen the impact on the team, Smith takes on the DC responsibilties to keep pretty much the same scheme/system in place. doing this would enable him to let his coaches/veteran players keep things moving while he split time working with the new OC C: i could be completely off base with either of these, and they could bring in a new OC and DC. looking at other teams who changed coaches before this season, I would hope next year would be more like SF this year and not Minnesota. Chew on THAT, Petunia!

It would also be dumb. We started from scratch with a bare cupboard in 2008 and did ok, I don't think learning a new system is going to be an issue. I'm sure the guys are eager to do so. I could see "B" but I think that would be a mistake. We need to set the foundation for the future, this sounds like an interim step. "C" is what I hope for. I'm not predicting grand success right off the bat but I feel very confident that there is no way we end up like Minnesota, way too much talent for that to happen. You don't make progress without taking chances, no risk no reward. If we play it safe our fate is sealed. |
