RE: Listen to Tim Tebow’s comeback against the Bears
My 2 cents, but probably not worth that.
Atheism is a belief system based on the idea that science can explain everything in the world/galaxy, if not now then will be able to in the future. Religion is a belief system based on the idea that a higher power explains everything in the world/galaxy. Both are belief systems, and both groups of people commonly look down on the other for their beliefs. Atheist tend to think of the religious as sheep or naive, while the religious tend to think of the atheist as morally bankrupt, in league with the "devil", or simply unenlightened. Both groups can have the nut jobs who will take things way too far, and both can be discriminated against. The United States of America was founded on the principle of Freedom OF Religion not Freedom FROM Religion. Substitute Freedom of Belief and I think it would be better said, but we should stop trying to take religion out of our society and let it be where it will on it's own by the people's decision. No one should be able to tell me how I can show or act on my faith, as long as doing so doesn't physically harm another. Offending someone doesn't count because the issue is with the offended not the offender. Oh, and anyone who thinks Atheist aren't trying to force their beliefs on others hasn't paid attention to the lawsuits of the last 20 years about separation of church and state and all the little bs things to prevent even a hint of religious flavor. An absurd example is the Atheist suing a County for offering free trees if people brought their Christmas trees in for recycling, because he didn't have a Christmas tree he was being discriminated against.....duh, go buy one if you want to recycle a tree and get a free tree to plant, nothing is stopping you. Ignorance can be educated.....Stupidity is to the bone. |

Since you love football, and Tebow is all you hear about, then you find the issue of his religion to be the point of attack. It's not a cop out. The influence of evangelism in this country has a very tangible effect on mine and others' daily lives. From restrictions on certain types of medical research/procedures to laws determining which days of the week people are allowed to purchase alcohol, evangelical fingerprints are everywhere. If some people had their way, certain books and movies would be banned. Damn straight I'm threatened. That said, I have nothing whatsoever against anyone who seeks to practice their religion with descretion and respect for the beliefs (or non-beliefs) of others. If Tim Tebow were one of those people, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Do I hate Tim Tebow? No. I don't hate anybody. Do I wish he would shut the hell up about how wonderful his god is? Oh, yeah. |

Did you watch the Tim Tebow: Everything in Between thing on ESPN2 this morning? Google it on Youtube.
They show his workouts..... Unreal. Not just in the facility just beasting it, but at home doing things like pushing a car up and down a road and crazy Rocky stuff. Was something. Formerly SBC Falcon

Tebow's skills are all based around his sexual frustration. Once he gets married and laid, he will come back down to earth.

Honestly, I think he's a bit of a Marcus Bachmann, once he marries a woman, he's only going to become twice as frustrated and become one of the Ted Haggard types, where he gets so frustrated, he'll have meltdown, get hooked on meth, and become a truckstop glory hole attendant. Then he'll come back to Jesus and start trying to cure "the Gay". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3CXS04cy...re=related |

If he believes in God publicly and you obviously don't, then isn't it easier to smile at him and say "What a foolish guy living like that...hahaha" instead of being pissed off about him. Atheists can't praise anybody publicly because there's nobody to praise...lol. |

Damn straight I'm threatened.Flipside to this is being a Christian and watching all those influences get stripped away from you. I agree that alcohol sales laws are stupid. But, you have to understand that the majority of the country was in favor of it. Christianity was rampant in this country. As you can see, little by little things are changing -1 for Christians +1 for everyone else. Quote:That said, I have nothing whatsoever against anyone who seeks to practice their religion with descretion and respect for the beliefs (or non-beliefs) of others. If Tim Tebow were one of those people, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. This is what I don't understand. This is Tebow, it's who he is and always has been. But how exactly is he disrespectful to you or anyone else when he is thanking who he believes on camera and off camera? This falls into the category of him being persecuted for being a Christian. And if you can't be a Christian publicly, then you aren't a Christian. I go back to what I said before. If someone says something that is offensive to you and not meant to be offensive by the person delivering the message, then who's blame? People piss me off every day. I get over it and move on.
