RE: Listen to Tim Tebow’s comeback against the Bears
If you just forget all the religious stuff and focus on who the guy is, it's clear to me that he is a very good guy. Its easy for me to make the distinction because I am an atheist, but I also understand that everyone needs something to believe in.
But there is no question the guy is authentic in who he is. If he was faking it I think he would left out that horrible rendition of that horrible hymn when he was warming up lol. Dude has some skills. Singing isn't one of them. |

I get what you are saying, he does seem like a genuinely good guy, but no one is worth this type of attention or adoration. That said, I think he's just as self-aggrandizing and self-promoting as Deion Sanders ever was, and maybe more so. This type of media attention isn't healthy, and if people genuinely cared about him, instead of deifying him, they wouldn't let this happen, and tone it down. It's extremely disturbing to see what is going on here, and the guy doesn't have a firm grip on reality already. Adding an entourage of minions who think he's messianic isn't going to make things better. Failure is going to happen for him eventually, and it ain't going to be pretty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3CXS04cy...re=related |

RE: Listen to Tim Tebow’s comeback against the Bears
Guy has won 6 straight games, is outward about his faith and is getting attention for it because those games he's won have been nothing but him against the odds.
The media is on this Guy because he's not supposed to be winning. You guys have a problem with it then stop posting in threads and reading about it. Your just adding to the current news right now. He IS the main story right now. Every year there is one, remember Vick? This world has many different people and many different beliefs. Tebow is a Christian, the most hated of all religions probably because of the supposed truth behind it.

Phocis, sorry man, if you think Christianity is the most hated, try being a atheist or a Muslim in the US. Not even close. Christians have persecution envy, believe me I know, I grew up Church of Christ. The problem is you can't escape Tim Tebow, he's taken over all the media. That's what's so disturbing about it. I didn't see any Falcons highlights yesterday, then I turn it to MSNBC to see whats going on, and they are obsessing about him there to. It's beyond a circus right now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3CXS04cy...re=related |

I just don't see that at all. Maybe Tebow is wearing a big gold chain around his neck that says "Tebowmania", but if he is, I missed it. |

RE: Listen to Tim Tebow’s comeback against the Bears
The truth of the matter is this - and Rad touched on it earlier - if Tebow's religion of choice was Islam or Hindu or Scientology or Paganism, his constant proselytizing would be branded as religious extremism. Nobody would be saying, "You gotta respect that guy for the sincerity of his beliefs." In fact, the overwhelming sentiment toward him would be the exact opposite of respect, and it would be unmerciful.
Now, if Timmy wants to believe that there's an invisible man living in the sky (credit to the late, great George Carlin) who has magical powers and a vested interest in whether or not he is successful playing a children's game, more power to him. But he has nobody to blame but himself when he experiences backlash for constantly steering the conversation toward that belief. Claiming to have a special relationship with a god is the height of human arrogance, IMO. No, I don't have to respect such vainglorious posturing. |

You are right Cooper. The Hindu hate in this country is out of control.
