If I was the HC of a football team and needed to hire a DC and a OC. I would look very closely to this one stat.

How good are you at making half time adjustment?

Rather easy to find out.

How do teams perform in the 3rd quarter. Do they keep getting scored upon or does the defense change scheme and the 3rd quarter is the lowest scoring quarter by the opposition on your team.

Are you able to score most of your points in the third quarter because you changed scheme to adjust to the oppositions defense.

Cords ability or inability to make half time adjustment at half time is for me a huge indicator if he's good or not... Like i said just shooting shit.

good point. not something we've seen a lot the last 3 - 4 years for sure. necessary half time adjustments. on either side of the ball. the 3rd quarter has been so hard to have to watch the last few years.

That's a valid criteria. Another would be in studying past game film, how often does the DC keep making the same mistakes over and over. Case in point from last night's Pack/NYG game. How many times did the Pack DC, Capers, use a 3 man rush against Manning on 3rd downs? Answer, TOO many. I counted about 4 times in the first half that resulted in many NYG first downs.

i saw sometimes in the first qtr of the falcons were able to get a rush with 3 but it was very rare. second half of the season i don't remember one at least at an important stretch of the game.

Half time adjustments are overrated. If you can't adapt from play to play then something is wrong.

He clearly learned how to send only 3 people on 3rd down from BVG. I'm sooooooo glad he is gone.

They don't seem overrated when you are used to having none.
