Is there a lesson to be learned?
Before I begin, let me say that the Pro Bowl is a popularity contest. Some players make it on past performance and others make it because they are good players on a very successful team. Having said that, maybe there is a lesson to be learned from this year's pro bowl selections.
If you look at the best offense in the AFC, you will notice that New England has not one but both OG's selected. In the NFC, there are two offenses that are head and shoulders above every one else (NO and GB). As it happens, NO also has two OG's selected. There is an old saying that you build a football team from the trenches and from the inside out. Apparently, this year's pro bowl roster supports that notion. If what I am saying is true, then TD will need to make sure that we upgrade our interior OL this offseason. He may decide to allow his draft picks to mature.....maybe we have a diamond in the rough. I think that if we don't get better play from our interior OL, we will not have an elite offense. |

RE: Is there a lesson to be learned?
No doubt about it, at any level of football. The interior needs to be set you can have the best ends in the world but if when they make that Qb step up there is nothing limiting that step or no pressure making them Worry about the idea of slipping through a gap then it just won't matter.

To be fair, Logan Mankins of the Patriots had no business being in the Pro Bowl.

Pro bowl or BCS, about the same thing - subjective. Voting has no place in sports. To me the only way the Pro Bowl would be credible is to try and do it in a more objective and clearly defined manner, maybe something like how PFF does grades. I mean c'mon, the notion of fans voting for who is the best guard is just ludicrous.
