NFL: I don't get this league man...

if you're watching the 9er/Steelers game, you just saw Vernon Davis stretch out for the first down and lose control of the ball as he came to the ground and his hand passed the 1st down marker...sound familiar? similar play to the Cox stretch that was pulled back a yard...maybe someone(probably Guido) can explain the difference to me here?

I saw it, but I can't argue with it. Looked to me like the ball came loose on Davis when his hand hit the ground. Cox was losing it before his hand hit down. I looked long and hard at the Cox play because I thought he'd been boned at first. Had to agree with the call, though, after reviewing it.

If you hold onto the ball, then you don't have to worry about calls like that.
