RE: Holy Shit Saints
Kind of hard to penalise them for that now no? I'm not too pissed off if it is true. But imagine at some point someOne has to sit down with these owners and GMs and say well how do you not know what is going on in your franchises. I'm giving the benefit if the doubt here that 1) more proof is needed 2) the owner is not likely to have been complicit or knowledgable in such action. This stuff is making the NFL look mad silly though

RE: Holy Shit Saints
I don't think it makes the NFL look silly. Reading the article if the allegations are the true, then the devices were well hidden. Also the Saints had I think only one winning season during that time period so who woild have thought.
The article was saying it could be hard to penalize as an actually crime in the united states bc of the statutes of limitations BUT the NFL don't have any statutes of limitations. They can penalize if they feel the need to, but of course it has to be true. I'm not as interested in this as I am that it's possible that bc of the bountu scandal there may be more news coming out about the Saints as we go along and honestly not only the Saints, other teams as well. I just feel like a hammer is about to drop |

RE: Holy Shit Saints
I mean it makes the NFL look silly because it's meant to be a professional organisation. And people are getting up to all sorts of shenanigans.
It's not the kind of thing that will ruin the NFL. No that honour will go to Goodell for scripting NFL seasons... That's right in 5 years time it will all come out. New Orleans getting the 1st Super Bowl after the sadness of Katrina... Rogers miracle playoff run raising himself up and out of Favre's shadow. And the giants bringing home a Super Bowl in the 10th year post 911. Firmly adjusts tin foil hat.... Sad thing is. I've actually listened to a fan of the NFL discuss this as plausible. I'm poking fun. I can't see NO getting punished for this in the same way as the bounties. To me it's likely to have not been known to the players and requires punishment of coaching staff and FO staff who may have been involved. All of this being hypothetical. |

RE: Holy Shit Saints
If this is true, and I am honestly a bit skeptical right now, then the only person punished will be Loomis. The statute of limitations already expired for a Federal Case, but I think Goodell would be livid. I could see him telling Loomis the same thing he told Payton, no contact for a year.
As I said, I'm skeptical, but if this is true, the Saints will be labelled as by far the dirtiest team in the NFL. The Man In Black

RE: Holy Shit Saints
I hope that Mr Blank take this civil matter to court. Playing them 2 times each year, having the Aints hear our coaches cannot be ignored. It definitely helped them for the 2nd game, even if nothing shady was happening in the 1st game each year.
But who believes nothing shady was happening? Formerly SBC Falcon
