I am a die hard that would never change teams. That doesnt mean I believe we will win a Super Bowl. I guess it's hard to win a SuperBowl when you make it to the playoffs year after year. /purple

RE: For those that say the Falcons will never win a Super Bowl
It is logically fallacious to say that because something has not been done before (or is rarely done, etc.), it will therefore never be done. This is true of anything, but doubly true in sports. The fact is, it is meaningless to talk about 5 year windows. I'd love to see someone work out the regular season records of those coaches, GMs and QBs who didn't win a Super Bowl in their first 5 seasons and ended up never winning one. I'd bet, not having looked it up, that most of them were pretty bad and rather than showing steady improvement season-to-season, they were going in the toilet. In other words, the reason those coaches, GMs and QBs didn't win Super Bowls is because their teams were garbage. I'd be surprised if there were very many not named the Buffalo Bills who had sustained success while never winning a Super Bowl. It just doesn't happen very much. Coaches and GMs get fired, and QBs get replaced, because their teams are not winning. That's just how it is. We don't fit that mold, 5 years or not.
Remember when all the pundits said we wouldn't beat Green Bay because they'd never lost a playoff game at Lambeau? The more I see of something that supposedly doesn't happen in sports, the more likely I think it is to happen. |

So you are convinced Falcons are going to win a Super Bowl with the pairing of Smith, TD, Ryan. I don't look at it like a history standpoint . Lebron James never won a ring up until last year. I was pretty sure I was going to see Lebron James win a ring. Falcons never won a ring but I still think Falcons will eventually win a ring just might not be in my lifetime. Most Red Sox fans thought they were never going to see another chip , they got there ring. Chi Cubs fans are still waiting. Something are just never meant to be. ![]() I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Don't take me seriously until year 2413 . - Added by Phocis because of this post. Warned here. I'm not convinced of anything in the future except all of us will eventually die. That's kind of the point -- you can't say that because this or that happened in the past it will of necessity happen that way in the future. But I'm confident the Falcons are on the right path, and we've gotten better every season since those folks got here. Until that trend stops, I'll remain optimistic. Your mileage, obviously, may vary. |

I believe we hit our peak and this is as far as we will go. There was no reason why we shouldnt have been in a Super Bowl this year. We have blown 2 number 1 seeds in a 3 year span. That is another trend that we would break cause I am not sure what team has ever done that has gone on to win a Super Bowl. I hope I am wrong and Smith/Ryan and TD win us a super bowl next year. We deserve it as fans but I see us taking step backwards for next couple of years. I still see us a playoff team next year wild card but I dont see us winning a Super Bowl or even getting to NFC championship game. We played 2 in experienced QBs and our defense let us down From a football standpoint Tony G - gone . this will be a blow Abe - 1 year older and no pass rush outside him secondary - could look different with cutting Dunta and Grimes gone limited cap space we been real lucky with injuries and have not faced a devastating one sooner or later I feel we might loss one of our main offensive weapons for a significant period I also see teams like Sea, GB, NYG getting better as well. Now this is not to say Falcons cant get better either. TD can hit on a pass rush specialist . We can bring in a new rb that turns out to be a stud., It can happen and not doubting it wont I just feel we have past our window and we will look back at what could have beem and 10 yards away ![]() I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Neither of us can prove the other right or wrong, so it's really a pretty silly exercise to trade beliefs when neither of us has a well-tuned crystal ball, nor are we standing before the Oracle of Delphi, nor have we been recognized as prophets. So you stand on your history of 5 year HC/GM/QB combos, and I'll stand on my history of 5 years of steady improvement, and next season, we'll take a look at it again and see who was right. |

Please don't quote his idiotic posts so the people that have him on ignore won't have to see his bullshit.
