Flacco and Matt now.
So is our boy Matty still considered the better QB between the two? All things considered I've got faith in Matt and we really weren't that far off from being there ourselves, but with the two QB's kinda tied together where do you place the Quarterbacks. Matt > Joe, Joe > Matt, Matt = Joe?
No troll, just a question on my mind. -ROCK CHALK!!! |

RE: Flacco and Matt now.
I think the only thing we can say with certainty is Flacco had a better postseason than Ryan. Marginally better, IMHO, but better.
Enough better to win the Super Bowl, in fact. I don't think Ryan's the problem with this team, though, so who knows what the future holds. I certainly think he will improve as his career goes on, and we'll have to see if Flacco does the same or if this is as good as he gets. My guess is they'll both end up being considered great quarterbacks, and I certainly think Ryan will have a Super Bowl ring before he retires. |

As much of a tool as he is, he had one of the best post seasons of any QB, ever. 11 TD's, 0 ints. That's pretty damn impressive. |

Yeah, but Ryan's performance against the same San Francisco defense wasn't far off of Flacco's performance at all, with the sole exception of the flukey fumble. And I was far more impressed with what he did against Seattle than what Flacco did in his prior 2 games. The INTs against Seattle were bad, but the comeback was so clutch, I think it balances out a bit. I fully agree Flacco played better. I just also think Ryan played very well in the playoffs -- I suppose my point is that Ryan played better than he gets credit for. Marginal may be overstating the case. |

RE: Flacco and Matt now.
Honestly, I think Flacco benefits from having a better team around him. Positional breakdown, I'd say:
RB: Advantage Ravens FB: Advantage Ravens WR: Advantage Falcons TE: Advantage Falcons OL: Advantage Ravens DL: Advantage Ravens LB: Advantage Ravens CB: Push S: Advantage Ravens There is a reason we keep saying Matt Ryan on that team would have 2-3 championships by now. The Man In Black

RE: Flacco and Matt now.
2 different QB's on 2 different teams in 2 different conferences. They were both drafted in 2008 and in the 1st round. The comparisons end at that. Still never could figure out what the point was in direct comparisons.

RE: Flacco and Matt now.
Ryan has proved himself to be a top 10 qb. Flacco would be in the top 10 as well.
The difference between them is this... Ryan built the Falcons from the ground up. Flacco was built by the Ravens. Ryan is still a better QB. This year he proved he has the ability to do anything. Some fluke games here and there, but same could be said for any QB (Brees 5 ints). The Ravens were good before Flacco got there. The Falcons were is complete disarray. Over the last 5 seasons we have been building and building. We almost won the NFCCG. It truly is impressive when you realize where the Falcons came from and where they are going. Falcons have a bright future. Can the same be said for the Ravens? Did they just peak as a team?

RE: Flacco and Matt now.
For whatever reason it feels like Ryan is still ascending to his ceiling, whereas Flacco has probably gotten there or is getting very close. Flacco took over this postseason, for the most part. One thing you won't see from Flacco is the comeback wins that Ryan continually gives this team. No matter how you look at it, the next few years of their careers will be fun to compare and contrast.

That defense was held together by smoke n mirrors at the end of the season (and maybe some deer antler spray LMAO). I've read they may have to cut Boldin for cap space, rayray is done, possibly ed as well. Kruger and a few others could be gone as well. I'll go ahead with my 'bold prediction' for next year, and say I doubt BAL even makes the playoffs next year. Chew on THAT, Petunia!
