Dave Archer said that Babin is owed over $11 million due to performance escalators in his contract resulting from 30 sacks and 2 pro-bowls the past 2 seasons.

He's 32 years old and only plays from the right side in a wide-9 hand in the dirt formation and he is a huge liability against the run.

We would never take on that kind of money and especially not for a guy who doesn't come close to fitting our scheme. He's reported as being a malcontent in the locker room too, which is probably even a bigger red flag for us.

Not to mention, we're #31 on the waiver wire list. I doubt anyone is going to pick up his contract, so when he hits the wire, there's 30 teams in front of us who have a shot at him.

Needless to say, ain't gonna happen folks.

RE: Eagles released a good DE...
It doesn't matter...all reports and nuggets I have dug up seem to say we are not interested. I think the argument that we had a chance to sign him when we signed Edwards doesn't hold much weight since we were looking to get the best value for our money (Edwards clearly was not worth it)....I am still not sure why we would not at least take a look at him even as a rotation guy for Abraham and Beirman (unless he just doesn't have the speed or flexibility Nolan thinks would fit). I am not big for messing with team chemistry going down the stretch but with our CBs hurting putting more pressure on the QB would take some pressure off the younger CBs....

I still think Amobi Okoye is an upgrade of Jerry (who is ailing anyway), he always had good run stop ability, he is a smart guy....and did better than JA98 ever did (which isn't saying much). He was released from Houston not for performance issues as much as they thought he was not worth the money for their scheme (and they just may be cheap!). He has done a decent job for the Bears - not sure why they are releasing him in the first place - so there may be underlying issues....

I still think we give them a "look" doesn't mean we have to pick up either....but if it might fill ailing position or upgrade a backup....you have to keep your options open.

Still not claimed....

Claimed by the Jags....go figure.

It makes no sense for the Jags to claim him, but meh

Why shouldn't the Jags get him? They need more players worth a damn over there.

Because they are rebuilding. Babin is a 32 year old DE. Any team getting him should be in a win now mode, not win later. Bad use of cap space imo

RE: Eagles released a good DE...
The Jags have been rebuilding since they first became a team. Least they can do is have a player worth watching.

I'm not saying Babin is all that, but he's better than anyone else on that D.

Who was that guy that the Jags got from greenbay a few years ago now was a DE or OLB.

RE: Eagles released a good DE...
Granted the Jags have the least amount of sacks in the league, but what are they going to do with Babin really? What good is he to them this year if say they keep him for one year. And if they take on his contract and keep him beyond this year, then they have a huge contract tied up in a 33 year old DE who is at the end of his career and has only had a few good seasons. This is not smart because they have so many holes to fill.

First off the Jags are in the midst of a one game win streak. Babin might just be the missing piece....
