RE: ESPN's Cowherd predicts, 10-6 falcons?
Brees already said he WONT play unless he gets a deal because he doesn't want to get injured and basically get screwed over. So seeing how all I've been reading and hearing is that the Saints and Brees are still far apart on the matter, he could just as well not even play a game. Especially when you consider that they have to get it done before the middle of June. You can rant and rave about how Carmichael and Brees run the offense all you want. On game day that may be true. But let me ask this, and you can ask yourself, if they are the creators of the offense then that would make your new DC Steve Spagnuolo the sole creator of the defense? Tell me, what exactly do you think that Sean Payton does as a head coach?
From every post you make about him being out for the season, you make it seem like his job is irrelevant and unimportant. As if he does NOTHING for the team on game day. You discredit him. I can almost assume that you must think there is no point in a head coach then, right? And respect for this board? No offense, but you come to this board and troll constantly. It's annoying. I kept holding out thinking maybe it's just the latest skid your on, but you show no hopes of returning to the every day poster you started out as. It's ridiculous. You make EVERY thread about the Saints. Every thread that you're in! I'm all for other fans coming here, but seriously, you shoot us down at every chance you get. I've grown tired of you, as have numerous people here. I'm not really understanding what admins are seeing that WE aren't, deeming you a fair member. As I've said before, maybe I could come here to talk about the FALCONS once in a while? After all, this is an Atlanta Falcons message board. Not a New Orleans Saints message board. So therefore, I don't want to talk about the Saints in every single thread. I direct you here Guido: http://blackandgold.com/saints/ That might suit your likings better.

Tell me, what exactly do you think that Sean Payton does as a head coach? Thanks! That's my home board. Good site. Anyway, Brees and Loomis are far closer than you might imagine and the only reason why they haven't even talked in the past month is because they are waiting for something important to get resolved. What does Sean Payton do as a head coach? Well, first of all he assembles an incredibly competent staff. Next, as soon as one season end he begins planning for the next. Within the first couple of weeks after the season he has identified and modified those plays introduced over the prior season and adds them to the plays carried over from the prior several years. He maps out the entire off-season activities and identifies free agent and draft prospects. He has already accomplished this for the coming season. Payton also mentors his offensive coordinator, Pete Carmichael, and assist Carmichael and Drew Brees in preparing the coming week's game plan. Of course, last season those duties fell solely upon Carmichael and Brees for a few weeks. Payton also used to call offensive plays prior to his injury last season. Carmichael took over offensive play calling for the remainder of the 2011 season even after Payton returned. Saints Fan Since 1967

Oh, so while the rest of the public and Saints fans have no clue about the fact that they are "closer than we think" you know this how? You must be part of the negotiations now as well. Seriously, now you just sound like a complete utter moron.
You're absolutely delusional, as someone else pointed out in another thread. You just go about trying to make the Saints sound like just that, saints. There is no way you could possibly know how close they are to signing Drew Brees, None at all. All you have is the information we ALL have which is from Drew Brees' side of the equation which is probably mostly based on his chat with Rome a few weeks ago. They haven't even SPOKEN in weeks. Seriously, the more you post, the more stupid you make yourself seem to everyone here.

That link is an interesting analysis of how bad Lofton really was on 3rd downs. Nicholas played only 28% of the snaps that Lofton played and he had more 3rd down stops and forced punts than Lofton. Nicholas is tremendously under-rated. If Dent or Tatupu end up being lack-luster on 3rd downs or in the nickle, I bet Nolan starts using Nicholas more in those situations. And instead of removing an OLB in nickle packages, we see Nicholas and Spoon out there instead. Unless of course Dent or Tatupu end up being great in those situations too. Needless to say, it's just funny how Guido thinks he has such an upgrade at MLB. Lofton might be better than Vilma at stopping the run, but no matter how you slice it, he's a huge liability in coverage and 3rd downs. |

Someone I know spoke with Loomis casually a couple of weeks ago and asked about the Brees deal. Loomis told him not to worry and gave him a thumbs up. But, there is no rush to do anything yet. OTA's don't even start until next week. I haven't expected anything at all until then. All that has been going on to date is off season strength and conditioning. Brees has his own private trainer. He is also is contact with Pete Carmichael as Carmichael stated on Monday. Unfortunately, until the player appeals are heard the Saints do not know how their current year cap will be structured. If Vilma and Smith's suspensions are upheld it will free up $2.8 million from the 2012 cap. They want to give Brees the best deal possible, but until then they can't ink anything. I suspect that they have a deal already worked out contingent upon final word on the cap. The whole Brees thing is much ado about nothing. Saints Fan Since 1967

Not a big one, but an upgrade nonetheless. David Hawthorne is also an upgrade to the LB corps, as is Chris Chamberlain and Martez Wilson who was placed on IR before the season last year. The Saints were horrible against the run last year. Vilma hasn't been the same since his knee surgery a couple of years back. That said, I agree that Nicholas has tremendous upside for y'all. I like him a lot. Saints Fan Since 1967

Missing OTA's is always bad.
Whether you believe it or not, it sets you behind the 8-ball. |

Quote:Vilma hasn't been the same since his knee surgery a couple of years back. Hmm. Same can be said about Curtis Lofton. So what else have you got? You claim that you know someone who speaks with Loomis has told you that everything is a-ok and they are very close. Yet all reports that are coming out of BREES' camp are saying that are nearly $4Mil apart - per year! That's not "close" as you seem to think. I would love to know why you believe that is "close".

I agree that Brees will most likely get signed, but I think it's EXTREMELY hilarious that you think a Loomis told him not to worry and gave him a thumbs up. is great confirmation in a casual conversation. BWAHAHAHA...he said not to worry and gave him a thumbs up. That is golden.
