I do expect passing numbers to be down, but based on the fact that last year was the best ever in NFL history, that is to be expected. I do expect a marked increase in the running game. Ben Grubbs is one of the best run blocking guards in the league and I feel he'll have an immediate impact in that part of the game. I also expect the Saints to "keep the pedal to the floor" in games this year. They have no face to lose by doing it, right? While Payton will definitely be missed I think that the combination of "us vs. the world" and "win one for the coach" will more than offset any lost value. The Saints will be playing a 1st place schedule, therefore it is tougher than last year's. While I don't see Payton's absence costing the Saints any games this year, it may be difficult to match the 13 wins from last season. I understand that you feel his absence will account for an additional 3-4 losses, I just don't see it given improvements to the defensive personnel and coaching, as well as the emotional edge.
