I don't recall any employed member of a major media network keeping anyone on board for very long throwing out Hitler comparisons... except for maybe Fox News and Glenn Beck.

For real. I go to the National Mall a lot, and every time the Tea-Party folk are up there, there are signs of Obama with a Hitler mustache, and those are the benign signs. They usually have ones with Obama in a coffin, or pictures of nooses.

There is a lot of hyperbole on both sides, but the Hitler thing is pretty much the domain of the righties the last few years.

Meh, with protesters and deranged malcontents, comparing the President to Hitler is usually par for the course. I can find pictures of crowds of protesters from back in the day with George W. Hitler signs all over the place.

I don't see anything wrong with his statement except for the ultra sensitive who think he is actually comparing Obama to Hitler. What did his opinion of politics have to so with MNF anyway?

The intro has been a staple of MNF for 23 years. Now if he would have been announcing the game and said something similar to "Look at that little monkey run" like Cosell did in 1984 then I would understand the decision a lot more.

No doubt, I can too. I'm just saying there weren't droves and droves of media figures in positions like Hank Williams representing major media outlets calling Bush Hitler. There is always someone on either side, but mostly it's just the typical protest groupees and idiots throwing out the Nazi crap.

He called the President "THE ENEMY". Sorry, but that's pretty offensive, and hypocritical considering how many were called traitors for disagreeing with Bush. Hitler references only diminish what Hitler did. He wasn't saying it in anyway satirically, he backed it up when he was questioned about it, immediately after he said it.

You can't have it both ways. Unfortunately, my dad has worked with him in Nashville,, and I've dealt with him with my work. He's actually worse than he comes off on TV. He's a grade A piece of shit.

So is this more personal or political for you? I don't care about Hank Williams one way or the other but ESPN's decision was definitely not football related. Would you or anyone else who is offended by some celebrities opinion boycott MNF or ESPN altogether if he continued with the MNF theme? Also note he did say both parties were just as bad.

Never Mind. Decided against it.

I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't!

Who abridged his freedom of speech? I mean, he said they did, but how did they do that?

This is exactly like the Dixie Chicks situation, and I view it exactly the same way. They said what they said, their core audience didn't like it, and they voted with their feet. That's how free speech works. You say some stupid crap, and I can choose not to purchase your products anymore. Hank Jr. said some stupid crap. ESPN chose not to use his song anymore.

No one told him he couldn't say it anymore. No one threatened to jail him. In fact, there was no state action AT ALL, and the only party bound by the Bill of Rights is the state. So to argue his First Amendment freedoms have been infringed is ridiculous. You want to say crap like that? Start your own football league, start your own sports network, and say whatever the **** you want. Until then, this was a marketing decision. No more, no less. And ESPN is perfectly entitled to do as it pleases with regard to who it lends its airways to.

Quote/analogy I saw on a random blog/forum a bit ago....Tax payers/citizens are Sheep, while the Republican and Democrat Parties are wolves, and they are all standing around trying to decide what's for supper..........

Ignorance can be educated.....Stupidity is to the bone.
