If I recall, since the 'Different World' days, and the change to all black, those throwbacks have always been popular in african-american southern culture outside of any team allegiance, much like the black raiders gear was for west coast black culture. The rise of the ATL in hip-hop only helped cement that fashion statement.

I think his wearing it is more towards those themes than anything doing with our current football team.
