Cedric Benson released from Jail early
Didnt he just report to jail 2 or 3 days ago? He was to serve a 20 day sentence. But since he mopped floors they let him out early. At least now I know what job to ask for if I get locked up....

BensonPosted by Josh Katzowitz

Bengals running back Cedric Benson surprisingly has been released … from jail.

That’s the word from Benson’s attorney Sam Bassett, via the Cincinnati Enquirer, who sent out a statement acknowledging that Benson has successfully served his time and now gets to move on with his life and his career.

From Bassett’s statement: “Mr. Benson was released from jail today, having served his sentence. Mr. Benson was credited for his full jail sentence pursuant to policies which apply to every inmate sentenced for a misdemeanor. He worked while in the jail, mopping floors and assisting the paint crews. He received additional credit because of this work. Every inmate in his circumstance is treated the same for purposes of calculating jail time credit. He looks forward to getting back to work and having a good season.”

You’ll recall that Benson was sentenced to 20 days in jail after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge. Originally, Benson had agreed to serve his sentence during the Bengals bye week, and it was assumed he would serve less time due to good behavior. While that’s true, he also got credit for working in the jail.

RE: Cedric Benson released from Jail early
I thought he was supposed to miss the late October game because of jail? Why'd he go in now?

Prisons are overpopulated, he went in early, and they let him go early.

He had an assault charge from a bar fight or something in 2010

And strangely, he is not going to be punished by Goodell.

RE: Cedric Benson released from Jail early
They had pictures of him on the local news being released from prison. He was walking with his suits. He had a serious poker face on. My guess is that he felt like smirking about the situation but his lawyers and handlers admonished him not to do that.

My guess about the matter is the judge got Benson for cheap in his fantasy league and then let him go early for obvious reasons. In any event football is still the main religion here in central Texas and so nothing is allowed to stand in the way of the game.

i'm gonna fix this, "well to be fair, having to play the the Bengals for 16 weeks trumps 20 days in prison as punishment"

i mean seriously, 20 days in prison would be like vacation from that madhouse

Chew on THAT, Petunia!

RE: Cedric Benson released from Jail early
He was originally set to serve 20 days but both lawyers agreed that he could get an early release on good behavior so he only served 5 days. He was going to serve the sentence during the bengals bye week but he decided to just serve it and get it done and over with.
