I'd take option #1. Going into the 12th year, my odds of having won the Superbowl are far greater if this is my 12th attempt rather than my first. I realize this is outside the premise of the question, but the question can only truly ever be answered in retrospect.

I want the Falcons to win a SB, hell 10 of them, but for me the agony of 11 losing seasons in a row far outweighs the high of one night. And after 11 straight losing seasons, no matter how the good the 12th one was, I guarantee you I would have more than doubts about winning the Superbowl, I would be jaded by 11 straight losing seasons, and it would negatively affect my enjoyment of the season, especially hearing about how they are "pretenders" the whole season.

The good news is that we don't have to pick and choose. I would much rather have a consistent winner and take my chances come tournament time. Some of it is out of the team's control anyway. Last year, if the Giants don't screw the pooch on that last second punt return, Green Bay doesn't make the playoffs and there's a good chance we go to the Superbowl.

I guess it comes down to expectations. I feel that all I can ask for is a team that consistently puts itself in a position to play for a championship. It looks like that is exactly what we are getting. Sure, I'll bitch and complain about stuff that happens in a particular game, but overall, after experiencing all the losing spanning decades I know this is one of those times to enjoy the ride.

Seriously, enjoying 12 winning seasons and playoff wins is tolerable. 12 losing seasons, a SB win, and 12 more losing seasons... whats the point? You've then turned into the current St Louis Rams. Nobody remembers them winning the SB in 2000.
