This is basically a contract year for Smitty. I like him, but Blank will just keep changing things until we get the right staff.

Best thing about Smitty is that he will let you know when he was wrong and take all responsibility.

It depends. If the Falcons go 3-13 for anything other than devastating injuries, then maybe. But the notion that we go 10-6 and out in the first round then he gets fired is absurd. To be fired after 4 playoff appearances and 5 straight winning seasons when the team had never done 2 in 40+ years. Last time the Falcons did something like that the result was a 9 year playoff drought, said we had "plateaued". I've heard Blank reference this. He's not stupid and he would have to be to allow himself to overreach like that.

Blank has never gotten rid of anyone that he shouldn't have and he's not going to start now. Besides, time after time I hear him in interviews referencing teams like the Steelers and how important continuity on the staff is.

Maybe Smitty is under more pressure internally, that may be who knows, but he would have to fuck up real bad to get fired.

Yeah. I will be very, very shocked if Smitty gets fired for anything this year. I don't even think a losing season will get Smitty fired. At least not this year.
