My immediate thought of Jerious Norwood.
I am a huge Jerious Norwood fan, I think he's one of, if not the best playmaker we have on the offense. I've always been a fan, I have a few Norwood jerseys even. However, as the years keep going on, I am starting to lose a little faith in Norwood. Year after year he continues to go down with injuries.
I feel like he just officially answered the question for me, "Why don't they get him more involved in the game plan." He's simply too fragile. I'm starting to believe that maybe we shouldn't resign him. While he is great when he is in the game, it seems that he's not in the game more often than he actually is in the game. We do however need a quick receiving running back, and hopefully there is someone in free agency that could step up in that role. I just don't think Snelling/Turner is going to be enough. Although Snelling seems to be more than filling Norwoods role, especially with that wide open receiving touchdown he just scored. Do we simply move around the current backs that we have to adjust missing Norwood, or do we look for someone with equivelent playmaking ability as Norwood? I am so thankful we have Snelling now, because if we didn't, we would be officially screwed in the running game.

It doesn't hurt to have him on the roster when healthy.
He didn't even get chance today. |

RE: My immediate thought of Jerious Norwood.
This is why they kept Antone Smith. And Smith is shiftier than Nance, IMO, so I think we should credit the FO somewhat for having the foresight to buy some insurance.
Not saying Smith will dominate as a rookie. He could. But I think they really believe in the guy, and it's looking like he's going to get his opportunities. I don't have a clue what any team would do w/Norwood. STs, and receiver type role or something? I just don't know. Brent Grimes ~ "I want the ball, man!"

It does hurt because we could have kept Nance or had Smith active so we could have rested Snelling some late in the 4th, instead of HAVING to keep playing him. Of course Ovie did great, and I bet he loved carrying the ball, but come on, if a guy gets hurt so easily it takes away a useful spot in a game. I love Norwood when he is healthy, but he is entirely tooooooo injury prone to be counted on for when you need him. Ignorance can be educated.....Stupidity is to the bone. |
