My Single Thought About Yesterday's Game
Please forgive me if this thought has already been posted.
First, let me say that the Falcons did not play a good game yesterday. They seemed out of sync, allowed big plays, and turned the ball over twice. For all of us who have watched them religiously this year we know that these characteristics are VERY out of the ordinary. It was frustrating watching them, because we know they really had a rough day and did not play well. However, having said that, my single thought coming out of the game is that this was the type of game that the "old" Falcons would have lost 10 times out of 10. The old Falcons would have folded and we would have lost by 17 points. But this is a completely different franchise...they held together, kept fighting and found a way to win. It is obvious that we have a different club here in Atlanta now. As a poster in the live chat said yesterday... "It is better to win ugly than it is to lose pretty." Words I can live with... Censorship is telling a man he can't have a steak just because a baby can't chew it. - Mark Twain. |

RE: My Single Thought About Yesterday's Game
co sign.... i had to work, i had arranged my schedule to work the evening shift starting at 4 so i could watch most of the game, and listen to the end of it driving to work. then fox 'flexed' the game. so i spent every chance i could pulling up the score on my cell. needless to say, just getting to 'score watch' was definitely NOT the best way to keep up with this game!
I did get to go out when i was on break and listen to a little bit of the third quarter. the drive where the INT was overturned and Kroy got the penalty. From listening to that drive, i thought, wow we're playing the bucs team and the team of refs. I said all that to say this, while i was definitely antsy, in my mind I knew that if it was a close game, we'd find a way to win. This team is not the 'sexy pick' or flashy or a 'big play machine' that draws the media attention, but the one thing NO ONE can deny, we just win. Chew on THAT, Petunia!

RE: My Single Thought About Yesterday's Game
I couldn't believe how much better Ryan played AFTER he threw the INT. It was like he needed to get one out of his system

RE: My Single Thought About Yesterday's Game
I think we have to give the Bucs some credit. They played great.
It was a day of bad breaks for the Falcons, and still they came out on top on the road against a determined young opponent that wanted it baaaaaaad. So I just had a single thought about the win, and it was: HELLLLLL TO THE YEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!! |

RE: My Single Thought About Yesterday's Game
This game kind of reminded me of week 2, 2008 the way their defense was playing us. Glad to see us gut one out when we weren't at our best but credit to the bucs, they played well, especially on D

RE: My Single Thought About Yesterday's Game
Yeah i'll be honest, watching quarters 1-3 i kind of lost a bit of hope, seeing how we were playing and how terrible we were getting beat on both lines. But it really surprised me to see how hard we kept fighting and fighting. With the Weems return it gave me hope back that this atlanta team is like no other. There was an article i read last night that Smitty and TD Really got same-minded players and that the train of thought that Smith has implemented on this organization has really been great. Hard to break old habits from past teams where like the OP said 10/10 we'd have folded and lost.
Glad to have gone through the hard times and finally seeing the results pay off with this new regime. GO FALCONS! -ROCK CHALK!!! |
