RE: My Peliminary Draft Board (in progress)
(02-28-2011 02:01 PM)karst41 Wrote: I started this yesterday, and stuck in a quandary with the 5th round. I've watched every minute of the combine so far, for whatever that's worth, but that along with watching a good bit of video on lots of these players is what I'm basing my opinions on. A few things about your mock: - Torrey Smith doesn't have "it". Just doesn't look fluid, hands aren't reliable, only has vertical speed & that's all I see in this kid every time I've watched him. And it's the same thing with Baldwin except he has even LESS body control IMO. Baldwin is like a wet sock, zero personality, zero swagger, & I don't know how this is possible, but he has a "lazy" smile (just not a good vibe). - By FAR the best looking receivers (other than Green & Jones of course) were Cobb, Kerley, Jernigan, Salas, Sanzenbacher, Pettis, & Hankerson. Although Hankerson had some drops in the gauntlet, he & the others still "looked like receivers". They were fluid, quick, caught the ball away from their bodies, & had incredible body control. Everyone else was just missing something IMO. These guys have "it". They are going to be playmakers in the NFL. ESPECIALLY Cobb, who I believe should be our 1st pick (but maybe not at 27, maybe in the mid 30's) because I don't think Sherrod, Cannon, Solder, LeShoure, Aldon Smith, or Amukamara will be there. And even then, I don't know if I would want Cannon or really any of the OL's over Cobb. He's just going to be a huge playmaker. - It's very unlikely that Aldon Smith, Kerrigan, & Amukamara will be there at 27. And I don't think Carimi is a 1st round pick by any stretch. The only guys that looked like 1st round talent were Solder & Castonzo. And I believe Cannon will move up as well. - Ryan Williams is not as good as Mikel LeShoure. LeShoure might just go top 20 & if he's there at 27 still, we should consider him hard. - No way we pick a safety in our first 5 picks this draft. - DJ Williams is the best TE in this draft, mark my words. He does EVERYTHING like a top level WR, but just not quite as fast vertically. Fluid, great hands, great body control, & he is going to be a bona fide YAC guy. And just wait for him to put some NFL size on. I do also love Jordan Cameron, Rob Housler, & Virgil Green who I believe are all going to be late round gems. - Mark Herzlich, like Casey Matthews, are going to be the best cover LB's in this draft & be gone before the end of the 3rd round. I'd love to have either one of them. - Derrick Locke use to be one of my picks, but after watching him in the combine, he's completely off my board. He is NOT our answer at the speed-back position. DeMarco Murray, Deon Lewis, & Da'Rel Scott are definitely my top 3 now with Jacquizz Rodgers a very close 4th. Rodgers only downside was the 4.6 40's, which just didn't seem right to me but that's what he ran. He's sneaky quick though & a walking muscle. Dude is cut like a greek god & he's by far the most durable RB in the draft (900+ carries in college, didn't miss a single game or play). Those 4 guys, along with LeShoure have that "it" factor when it comes to playmakers. Locke was fast, but had zero confidence & looked way too robotic. His body control was horrible. The other guys all had incredible body control & you can just picture them going for YAC like crazy. Deon Lewis & Da'Rel Scott are going to be late round gems as well. That said, it's just too difficult to try to place players in certain rounds. We should really just list who we like & hope we get them, it's just easier. And after the next 2 days of defense going, who knows who else I'll be adding to my list. It's going to keep changing all the way up to April 28th though I'm sure. |

RE: My Peliminary Draft Board (in progress)
The weird thing about a draft board is the actual draft itself.
All the experts have Cincy taking a WR, but some suggest that Carson Palmers replacement could be drafted this year. Should that happen, then somebody good is going to slide down the boards to us. In spite of how many first round picks that belichick has ! dadgummit,,,,, hate that guy |
