RE: My Free Agency Thread..
Thats the one thing i'd disagree with to the OP, even if we get a Quality number 1/2 for Corner why does Grimes automatically get demoted to nickel. Honestly i'd rather have the high priced CB starting with Grimes and moving Dunta down to the nickel. If anything showed this year is that Dunta did get overpaid (but what FA doesn't) and grimes has been stepping it up the past 2 years and deserves the money and roster spot.

end of rant.

I'm not so sure that moving Grimes to nickel is really a demotion. In fact, because of his incredible athleticism it might actually open things up for him to make even more game changing plays. I like the idea of him lurking around in the middle where the opposing QB can't see him, only to have him vault into the air and make the interception as if someone had covered the field in rattlesnakes.

RE: My Free Agency Thread..
The reason I said put Grimes in at nickel is it would force the opposing offenses hand. If Grimes is in the nickel, and they line the slot receiver up on Dunta's side you have a GREAT chance that the ball is going to go to that side (assuming Aso is on the other side). Dunta is a great player, and if Grimes is on that side as well, it only increases the chances of a turnover. Dunta is bigger and stronger than Grimes so keeping him on the outside is the smarter choice. When you look at most slot receivers, they are around the 5'11-6'1 range, where as #1 and #2 receivers are 6'2-6'5 range. So moving Grimes to the slot would exponentially improve his ability to cover the smaller guys.

^^ This.

And I still believe he'd whiff less on QB's when blitzing than B. Williams, because again, there's a huge difference between a charging RB or WR at full speed forward vs. a QB who's for the most part not charging forward at all much less full speed.
