My First-Round Pick If I Were Dimitroff

RE: My First-Round Pick If I Were Dimitroff
ok, i've said it before, will again. i'm of the mind that the draft will take place before FA this year because of the lack of the CBA. keeping that in mind means we need a DE that will make a difference. I know, I know, a DE that makes an impact right out of the draft has rarely if ever happened. We just plain and simple have GOT to get someone that can complement ABE from the other side. KB will be a good rotational guy for us for years, but what i've seen this year is he's just not starter quality.

not gonna name names of who the college DE's in the draft are, i just don't know enough about any of them to make a pick.

Chew on THAT, Petunia!

Agree DE is Priorty number 1

If Draft is first get a #1 pick there and even get one in FA as well.. We need porduction or QBs in the playoffs will pick us apart everytime

The problem is there's like 3, maybe even 4 teams ahead of us that might take a DE. Best case scenerio is we get the #3 DE prospect if we're very lucky. But even then, the percentage of a #3+ "DE" prospect coming out of college & contributing day 1 is so ridiculously low, it's just not smart.

Meanwhile, we can very likely get the #1 TE prospect at 27, who can come out of the gate & contribute immediately while filling a position that we absolutely know needs replacing & is hard as hell to fill through FA. And that's HUGE.

The smartest thing here would be to get a DE in FA that we know the potential of & can contribute immediately.

I would LOVE a TE in the first or a WR or a RB and yes I do believe a DE does not contribute first year really ever... its just an over reaction by me pretty much saying that I believe if we don't get a NFL caliber DE we are screwed

Take the best player available.

A stud RB who can catch the ball will help so much more than a #2 WR or TE.

Tight End can be addressed next year if we convince Gonzo to stay, DE in FA.

Holmes to Johnson, Taylor to Jones-Drew, Faulk to Jackson........Turner to Leshoure

Johnson was drafted to replace Holmes which he did his third season. Johnson had only two good years in him, and they were great seasons. Charles has been pretty good the last two seasons wouldn't you say?

All this proves is that most first round RBs are just like most first round QBs they need time to learn the system and grow. Throw them in too fast and you could have a sophmore slump - see Matt Forte. If you're going to take a back in the first round, it is more than expected that he will take over for your starter within a couple seasons.

The exception of course is TJ Duckett who couldn't take over counter job at your local McDonalds.

How do we know how much Turner has left in the tank though? Especially as a #1 back? LJ and SA both fell off epically. SA did have a foot injury I believe, but still. They went from MVP level players to not being able to hold a 3rd RB spot on the Redskins. Charles was drafted the year after LJ left I THINK, so that point still applies. I could be wrong though.

Turner is a very solid RB and I know he led the league in yards but he also led in attemps and got yards late in games when they didn't mean much.

In two playoff games when we needed him he hasn't necessarily provided.

I'm not ripping Turner, I'm encouraging a new RB.

He will be 29 next year and for a RB these days, that's near the end of his tenure and I see no harm in replacing him in a couple years completely (having a young gun seasoned, fresh, and ready to go)

My thoughts exactly. Idk or care if we get a guy in the 1st or 7th, but we NEED another guy.

Well obviously. My point is if you're bringing in a first round pick you better hope they can step up. See Duckett. Or if you let Turner gone doesn't turn all Thomas jones or Cedric benson or LT you and succeed despite and your stuck with Blair Thomas.

RE: My First-Round Pick If I Were Dimitroff
i agree with the need for an offensive playmaker wheather that be a #2 RB wiht our first pick or a #2 Receiver Leshoure sounds like a great pick at our spot in the draft, if we went with him in our first our second rd pick should be a receiver or DE if its the other wa our pikcs should be WR 1 DE 2 RB 3

2 receivers i would suggest in the first would be julio jones who would require a trade up or Titus young who would likely be at our pick also considered a poor mans Desean jackson. idk many DEs that are projected in the second so in the 3rd we could go for our home run threat RB some have stated the guy from Kentucky, guy i would reallly want to see us draft is Jaquiezze Rodgers from Oregon state. or another speed back with the 4th go BPA on the defense side be a LB or CB 5th go OL 6th more defense and the 7th a kicker/punter

and thats just my toughts
