It is the idea behind the word. If some card carrying member of the KKK is out there saying he wished all the faggots and niggers were made into tree ornaments or baked into cookies, then that would be something to get pissed off about. Some rich athlete calling someone a faggot as a common insult, a generally negative put-down, then why get bent out of shape about it. Not because he said nigger or faggot, but because of the ideas and suggestions behind those words.

If people would quit trying to adopt a tribal view on their race, nationality, sexual orientation, etc; where they adopt a set of rules that apply to a vague collective instead of viewing themselves as individuals, life would be a lot better all around the world. My skin is white, I prefer women over men, and I was born in the USA; but I'm not going to shit my pants just because someone uses a negative word associated with one of the above. Attack the ideas and the foundations of the beliefs instead of focusing on words.

I'll tell you right now that 90% of the time that word is not offensive to even the gay community. I have a friend who is gay and plays in my adult softball league on my team, we always screw with him and tell him what a faggot he is. Doesn't offend him, or any of his friends he brings to the games. The word is only offensive if people are defensive or insecure about their sexuality.

well yeh amongst friends, anything goes. Plus Kobe just happened to have been caught and I just decided to make a case that the word has some more weight to it than people realize which I still believe to be true.

I also think its a played out insult and right there that can make you sound ignorant and stupid. I mean just now I came up with "youre a professional sword swallower" which IMO is better than the tired old "youre a faggot". At the very least, lets be more creative cause if its funny enough its not taken seriously. Fine line to walk, either youll add a fresh vibrant insult to the name game or youll be banned. We will call it RACIAL ROULETTE. Of course you can share some of your favorites as well. Ill even start it off and since I kind of did by already coming up with a new one, my alltime favorite has always been calling my black best friend a Big Spear Chucker
