So depressing to listen to. It is plain and simple both like many other races suffered like they should not have had to. My greatest shame in that situation was these were two people who were supposed to love one another and really made light of one anothers suffering. You made a really good point about how comparing such situations is simply ridiculous. I hope an example like this puts it into context for anyone who does not understand. |

You're the one that made the comparison, I simply expanded on the thought to try and show you how silly that sounds. Then you go on to compare another oppression situation...lol. I'm not sure what slander you're talking about though. If you mean comedians and stereotypical acting roles, every other group of people are "slandered" the same way. And I'm almost positive gay people are able to marry in California, and continue their marriage wherever they please. I understand what you're saying though, the thing is, I'm not arguing whether gay people aren't giving the same rights as heterosexual people...the argument is whether Kobe's or Roddy's statements should even affect gay people. IMO, they shouldn't. And look at it this way...you used a perfect phrase. It has evolved into a derogatory term in the past, why can't you and gay people acknowledge it has evolved into a simple diss males and females of all sexual orientation use against each other? Honestly, the argument could be made that you and gay people are ignorant to the change in tide established through pop culture, of the word. But I'm not going to show a CHINK in my armor, as I walk to the store with a WET BACK because I came from the store to get some CRACKERS where some kids opened a hydrant and were spraying everybody.

Yea, I completely agree, I hate when people compare the two situations, they're never comparable and usually just insulting to one of the groups. That's why i tried to show dude the two slanders weren't comparable while trying to break it down historically and with more recent examples. |

"Not to mention, last I remember, a nation hasn't enslaved gays and belittled them to being "that faggot" quoting illmusic How am I suppose to take your quote as anything other than comparing the two. Second I wasnt comparing I felt I actually needed to point out an example that gays are in fact discriminated against and enlighten that there is in fact hate behind the word Next is no you cant marry is California and majority of states do not recognize same sex unions. -" the argument is whether Kobe's or Roddy's statements should even affect gay people. IMO, they shouldn't." quoting ill music. Well I just found this quote from Kobe on the situation "It was just stupid and ignorant," Bryant said. "In this situation, seeing how many people were affected, it helps you understand the weight that comes from that word. That's why it's very important for me to communicate how sorry I am to use the word." so Kobe himself admits wrong doing and is now working with GLAAD as well. So decent attempts at the flip flop but you failed pretty bad |

Like I said, I expanded on that trying to explain the historical meaning behind both words. Are you misunderstanding me somewhere, I'm keeping this as simple as possible because I'm on my iPad? Also, do you understand that Kobe is still fighting into the limelight after the rape incident? He's one of the faces of the league and was smart not to argue the incident, and simply appeal the fine. I don't know, if you can't understand the politics behind that, it would help me understand the logic barrier we've stumbled into. And I'm not understanding what flip flop I did...this whole thing started because you tried to say a word CREATED to belittle a race of people is COMPARABLE to using a slang word who's meaning and distribution has evolved through the years. My stance since the beginning has been the gay people shouldn't worry about someone using faggot in the context Kobe said it. Hence the reference that, whoever the leading authority in women's rights is, wouldn't worry about a PETA representative say something about breeding bitches or a comedy using the word in a diss towards a guy. |

Like I said I used it as an example to make a point there was hate behind the word and hate is hate. Kobe is also a very smart dude and I sincerely believe his eyes opened up after he saw the reaction and really does care bout fixing it. My final thought on this: my opinion is saying the word makes you sound stupid and ignorant and continue use of it means you are behind the times. Kobe is none of these and wont continue to use it cause I believe he went through the same realization as myself. The reality is the word IS and HAS become a derogatory term towards gay people whether is was meant to be or not. I understand your point, I just disagree with it. Go Falcons, I have no idea anymore who I want in the first round I just want them to play well. I do know I want Titus Young and Taiwan Jones in the later rounds |

Who gives a shit? Is he raising your kid? I think it's sad how much people put on the value of athletes and entertainers as role models. I don't care if Roddy White is dumber than a box of dried cat feces as long as he can catch a ball. I don't care if he has severe character flaws as long as his teammates respect him on the field thats all that matters. The public needs to get a life and quit expecting people in the spotlight to meet or exceed your standards for morality simply because they make a bunch of money to play a game. GET A LIFE. Go Roddy, say what you want, and enjoy that First Amendment right to tell the naysayers and goodie two shoes to jump off a bridge. |
