Mike Smith - special teams coach?
I keep hearing over and over on the radio and TV that there are 2 defensive coaches, one offensive coach and one special teams coach left in the playoffs. They are calling Mike Smith a "special teams" coach when it comes to head coaching. Why?
Am I the only one who doesn't really understand this? Are they saying our special teams is the anchor to our team? Mike Smith was a defensive coordinator before he came to Atlanta, wouldn't that make him a defensive coach? I'm a little confused as to why they are calling him that.

RE: Mike Smith - special teams coach?
It's Harbaugh in Baltimore pretty sure he was recruited having been special teams coach at his previous spot

RE: Mike Smith - special teams coach?
Mike Smith and Bill Belichick both have defensive background before becoming HC.
Jim Harbaugh was QB coach before becoming HC at Stanford and SF. John Harbaugh was a ST coach before his head coach gig at Baltimore

RE: Mike Smith - special teams coach?
That explains it. Greeny and Golic once again show me why they are morons when it comes to sports talk radio. They've got that shit flipped ass backwards.
