RE: Mike Smith admitting the coaches are the problem
Wait a second, are you both honestly saying you think the thread title is NOT misleading? You dont think when someone first reads that and sees a video link, they actually think Mike Smith is blaming everything on the coaches? Thats what I thought when I first read the title.

Then I watched the video.

You dont think the title would have been more accurate if it saud "Mike Smith admitting the Falcons failed to execute as a Team."? I dont see how you can watch that video and get anything else out of it. I guess we can agree to disagree. I dont like reading thread titles that take a quote out of context to try to insinuate something or support a point of view.

Truthfully, I don't get caught up in thread titles, because they're only use is intended to be an attention grabber. It's what they contain that counts. The title is more like a flashing light.

Well, I'm sure the OP didn't intend it that way and I guess I see where your coming from. No offense was meant buddy.

also...even though the coaches/coordinators and players are technically all "the team", a coach saying that it's not just the players but the coaches too is completely different then saying that it's "the team"

Okay. For me (I read alot and I'm an aspiring writer) its more important to read the posts than just the title.

I agree, to an extent. The thread title is what people base their posts off of though. Its what steers the conversation. Thats why I dont like misleading titles, because they get people going in a direction the topic starter wants regardless of what was actually said.

Fair point.

Ill quit harping on this, I just didnt expect that everyone else wouldnt notice this or mention it. Maybe im a bit more sensitive to it because I am not on the fire MM bandwagon. Big Grin

Cool beans man. If everyone was on the same page then no one would get a different perspective.

I honestly just don't believe that MM is utilizing his players to theri best strengths.

Well... to be fair to the OP... oh wait...

That was the first time I have actually heard Smitty talk about a problem with the coaches.

Yes, there is more to what Smitty said about going into the team as a whole, but I was getting the point across that Smitty is talking about the coaches for once.

RE: Mike Smith admitting the coaches are the problem
I think to a large degree it is a coaching problem.

It seems we play very tentatively, almost with a "not-to-lose" attitude on the road. Both this past Sunday's game with the Steelers and last years game with the Pats were road games against perennial champions who were "down-on-their-luck" or struggling a bit themselves.

I'll never consider the Falcons among the elite teams in the NFL until they can march onto a quality opponents field and defeat them.

and with the concerns that we have seen, it's definitely time to individualize those areas instead of just saying "the team"

good job Smith, I as a fan am glad to hear you say it.

This is a huge problem with us. We don't play to win, we play to control the game.

This is why we don't play well from behind, but play well with a lead.

Thats like going into a marriage with the idea to "Not get a divorce." It won't work out. You'll do just the minimum and thats why I have been noted as saying that we celebrate mediocrity.
